Trailex enclosed / what model winch?
Just bought a 2015 enclosed Trailex which came with the battery box and raised winch platform, but the original buyer did not choose to spec the Warn winch. I'd like to add one with ideally a wireless remote and synthetic rope.
Can anyone recommend the best winch for that Trailex platform?
TIA

The superwinch S5500SR with their wireless receiver is a nice unit. You'll need a mounting plate to do it right, but you might be able to get away without one.
I feel a bit embarrassed for superwinch though, it seems that their website is hosed up and it's difficult to find their synthetic rope products right now.

I rigged up a Wagan 400-Watt Power Dome Jump Starter battery box for power to the winch, one less battery to keep charged or replace every few years. As a fall back, the 12V (+ & -) lugs on most winches can easily be "jumped" with a 12V source (Power dome jump cables). Also rigged up a 12v Trailer plug (male) / cig lighter cable to use Power Dome to run Trailer 12v lights (if not connected to tow vehicle) thru Trailex trailer 7-pin plug.

I bought the Superwinch S5500 with synthetic rope and it is good so far. I have the wireless remote as well. My understanding is that Superwinch no longer sells the S5500 though. I had to buy mine from a distributor who had a few remaining in inventory. I think Superwinch does still have the S7500 in stock and was selling them super cheap when I was last on their website. They do not have any remaining with synthetic rope, but you can buy synthetic rope separately from another vendor and the wire rope S7500 is the same as the synthetic rope version (except the rope), so you can just replace with synthetic. I have an open Trailex with the winch platform and had to drill some extra holes in the platform to make the holes on the Superwinch mounting plate line up.

My understanding is that the Terra series Superwinch products require some additional wiring to get them hooked up, as those are ATV winches. The S series is completely integrated, so it is plug and play. You only have to hook up the positive and negative to your battery and you are good to go. I added the Superwinch quick connector to the leads, which really makes everything a lot easier to use. My tow vehicle is an X5, which has the battery in the rear cargo area and I run the leads directly to the X5 battery. This way I don't need to transport a separate battery for the winch. When I want to unhook the trailer I just separate the connector halves and boom I'm ready to go.
