Diesel van!

If you tow open, it can save having to unload everything at the end of a tiring drive home.

3.31 axle
Does that seem reasonable. Its not close to me so would buy unseen...
Way more truck than you need (have made more than 125 trips to wgi and sp with my trailex and f150) so it will be fine!

I like the 36 gal tank on my 2014. I make it from East Hampton to WGI and back to the Dandy (gas station) in horseheads with one gallon to spare.

Congrats.

Now comes the fun part with modifying, adapting your trailer to the truck. One thing I wasn't aware on these Fords is that in order to have 12V at the plug the truck has to be running. I found that out when I plugged in my trailer and expected the interior lights to work. Now I'm modifying my trailer to have interior lights (early/late am/pm un/loading) and provisions for an electric jack.

I look at that as a good thing. Keeps you from running down the truck battery if trailer lights are left on. Don't try to run a winch off that power supply. Should be good for lights or a jack, but you'll blow the fuse if you try much more than that.

I'm the type that hates leaving my truck running while I'm trying to load or unload in the dark. Anyway, in my case all my lights are LED which draw about 1 amp. If a truck battery can't handle that for the time being I've got bigger problems with the truck. Hate to contribute any more than necessary to climate change.

So you're not going with a 20' trailer anymore?

MPG doesn't seem to matter with weight. Its all about the frontal area of the trailer. I would also strongly suggest you invest in a weight distribution, sway control hitch. It was fun watching the warning on my truck IC that it applied the trailer brakes due to trailer sway when I got buzzed by a Motor home towing a stacker on the hiway; NOT

No, but acceleration, braking, and stability in cross winds and evasive maneuvers does. A longer trailer begs for more power, better brakes, and a longer wheelbase.

Might be overkill but I just purchased a new Ram 2500 Laramie with the Cummings Diesel engine. I've been waiting on outcome of the VW dieselgate settlement on my Q7 diesel to decide on a truck or not, but some other circumstances pushed my hand a bit. Can't believe I have a HUGE diesel truck.... . I'm actually happy though as I'll be way more comfortable pulling the trailer.

Good luck, that extra 4ft going from a 20-24ft trailer seems to be what really makes people jump to the 3/4 ton truck. Purchase a weight distributing/sway control hitch as soon as you pick up the trailer.

Congrats, overkill or not you know it will do the job and hold value way better than a gas truck. The Laramie is really nice truck.

Thank you. I'm really happy with the purchase now that I've done it.
