Default HP dif between S2 and 968

does anybody know what accounts for the difference in horsepower between a 944S2 and a 968, the engine specs seem to be the same except for a very slight comression ratio dif. (10.9:1 vs. 11:1), could the variocam head in th e 968 account for 20-30 hp?

Tweeking and variocam. But keep in mind te S2 is a little lighter so the difference is nil. S2's do well in F stock racing with the 968's.

cool, thats nice to know. the guy i bought it from had a valve drop out on him and his shop installed a 968 head!!! i'm thinking of hooking up the solenoid to enable the variocam with some kind of rpm sensor, maybe i'll squeeze a few more ponies out of her!?

First time I have heard of someone doing that. Please report back to the 944 forum if you get it working that should be interesting.
