Description:

It is with a heavy heart that I am listing my very special 1996 993 4S featuring a full monty 3.8 engine built just last year by Steve Weiner @ Rennsport. I am 100% sure I will eventually regret this, but given my current life situation and needs, I just can't justify keeping this vehicle. I am hoping it can go to someone who can make good use of it. All details are listed below.

I am asking for CAD$145K or USD$108K. I think this is priced for a very quick sale.

Background
Car is a 1996 993 4S, in Polar Silver. It has 90K KMs (~56K miles). It was originally bought by a colleague of mine. Five people have owned this car over the years (me included); three of which are colleagues of mine, while the fifth one owned the car for short bit before I bought it back from him. Unlike the other owners, I couldn't leave the car stock and decided to make a major project out of it, inspired by the Singers, 9Ms and of course Rothsport/Rennsport.

Engine

  • 3.8L engine built by Steve Weiner @ Rennsport; less than 10K KMs since installed
  • Main components include bore-in 3.8L Mahle P&Cs, GT3 crank, GT3 oil pump, Rothsport ITBs with GT3 plenum, Pauter rods, Gt3 muffler, and Rothsport headers (no cats)
  • Headers connect to both quiet and loud ports of GT3 muffler, with a different tune at the push of a button (pretty much same thing as the Gunther Werks engine),
  • Custom tuning by Rennsport via a Motec M600 unit
  • 8700 RPM red line
  • 396HP / 314 Trq in "loud" mode and ~380HP / ~290 Trq in "quiet" mode
  • Engine runs incredibly smooth and is a beast under load; it has great mid-range torque and produces power all the way to 8700 RPM. This is fully streetable and fully track-ready
  • The power difference between the two modes is quite significant. While "loud" mode is really not all that loud, it drones at cruising speed. Simply pushing the button to switch to quiet mode completely eliminates the drone
  • AC was retained, but not heat
  • Over USD $60K build for the engine alone. I have full invoice details from Steve Weiner

Transmission
  • Custom short ratio transmission
  • Converted to 2Wd with a Guards Transmission two-piece cup main shaft and Fd Mortorsport transmission mounts
  • 8:32 ring and pinion from California Motorsports
  • Gear ratios: first gear: 12:38, second: 21:43, third: 25:39, fourth: 29:36, fifth: 37:38, sixth: 40:34
  • Top speed of 170 MPH; gearing chart available upon request
  • FDM Golden rod and short shift kit
  • RS clutch and LWF supplied by Steve Weiner
  • Paired with the engine, this transmission is an incredible blast! Works just fine for cruising speed too

Suspension
  • Bilstein PSS-10
  • ERP EVO front inner half tie rods
  • Tarrett RS sway bars

Interior
  • 996 steering wheel
  • 996 GT3 seats
  • Heigo bolt-on half-cage with scrotch 5-point harness. Rear seats are intact under the half-cage
  • AC retained but not heat
  • Rest is pretty much stock

Exterior
  • Original Polar Silver paint; paint is not perfect, but it's very good considering this is a 23 year-old car
  • Only exterior modifications are 1) changes the turbo S spoiler to a split grille, 2) modified rear bumper to have a hole at center for GT3 muffler and filled in the holes on the side, and 3) removed all bumperettes
I am based in Montreal, Canada. I will gladly work with anyone in the US to arrange for transport and customs. Car is obviously not OBD2 compliant.

Please PM with any questions, or even better, email me at brunet dot nic at gmail dot com.

Regards,

Nick

Reads as a well sort 993 sleeper/driver that will keep the water cooled crowd honest :-) Hope whomever ends up with such a well sorted example takes it to the track to use it as intended!

Have a plan for a engine build following (Steve Troy inspired) a similar theme on my track focused Silver 993 :-)

GLWS!

Pretty awesome. Would it be wrong to buy this and part the engine/trans and put it in my 964? :-) Anyone want a chassis? hahahahaha

Those power figures must surely be conservative (or else at the wheels) with such a ripping redline! What a car!

Absolutely ok to part it out . It would certainly make for an incredibly potent package in your amazing 964!

As the figures come straight from Steve’s engine dyno, I think they are very accurate. It’s really not the headline figures, but rather the combination of low-end torque and power all the way to 8700 rpm that makes this incredible... this engine performs both on the street and on the track.

Fully aroused. If my 993c2s wasn’t getting repainted right now I’d buy this

If it retained heat I just might have been able to sneak this one past my wife. Oh, wait...she’d probably ask why the seat has this special harness and doesn’t fold forward to get our daughter in the back. Drat!

Seriously, looks like one really cool 993...GLWS!

I'm getting an engine from Steve later this year! Do you happen to have any driving videos? I *need* to hear this engine!
