I wonder which air intakes Porsche will nix. With the electric powertrain they can opt to use only the rear air intakes with one side for the HVAC heat exchanger and the other side for the glycol radiator. The nose could then be made very sleek (air cooled 911) and would not require as much frontal overhang. The other option is no side intakes. Then the schnozz looks like a Taycan. If they opt to keep all the air intakes for styling reasons they will add weight and cost. Why? Because the coeficient of drag is gonna be compromised and thus they need more battery. I hope they opt for efficiency.

I also hope they opt for only RWD for simplicity, low weight and low cost.

Cayman and Boxster EVs spotted in Cali about three months ago. Granted, these are still development vehicles, but the side intakes are gone. Which makes sense. The side intakes in the NA cars were to feed the engine. On the turbo cars, they were to feed the engine and radiators for the low temp coolant loop for the intercoolers. Nothing and EV has to worry about. I would love an EV Cayman for a daily and keep the gas car as my track car.

Even though I would visually prefer a shorter snoot the cooling up front is the most aerodynamically efficient method and probably by a lot. Rear cooling scoops would interupt air flow midstream and there needs to be an exit which also is problematic midstream. I'll trade aesthetics for performance almost exclusively.

I'm ready Porsche. Come on!
