I'm considering purchasing a 2020 Taycan Turbo from Carmax. I've been looking around at various warranty options to see which ones cover the EV battery. My goal is to buy an additional 5 to 7 years of coverage which will add another 2 to 4 years to the 8 year battery warranty and also cover expensive components like air suspension.
The options I've found so far include:
1. Carmax MaxCare (~$3k for 60 months / 75k miles): Exclusionary warranty. Does not cover EV battery but does cover most other parts including electrical components, air suspension, etc.
2. Fidelity Platinum (~$5.5k for 72 months / 75k miles): Exclusionary warranty. Says it covers everything in the gold powertrain warranty which states that it covers "Hybrid/plug-in electric/compression natural gas/hydrogen components" -- need to confirm that this means it covers the EV battery
3. Porsche VSP Platinum for Electric Vehicles: I haven't received a quote for this yet - can anyone share prices?
Are there any others I should consider? Does anyone have experience that they can share?
As of right now there are no warranties that cover the high voltage battery.
Not true, Fidelity Gold and Platinum coverages cover the high voltage battery.
ADDITIONAL HYBRID/PLUG-IN ELECTRIC/COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS/HYDROGEN COMPONENTS: Motor/generator belt tensioner; drive motordampener; voltage inverter reservoir; three-phase high voltage cables; hydraulic or electric regenerative braking system; hybrid/EV/hydrogen battery(nickel-metal hydrate or lithium-ion drive propulsion battery) including the case and mounting hardware, junction block, main battery cable, and framewire; onboard battery charging system including charge controller, plug in outlets, plug in cable, and trickle charger cable; electric AC compressor andmotor; electric steering rack, gear, and motor; electro/hydraulic power steering pump and reservoir; hydrogen fuel cell stack; battery cooling pump;seals and gaskets.

Please be careful with extended warranties. The Porsche dealer here in LV recently decided they will not deal with any extended warranty other than the ones they sell, screwing over all of their customers with aftermarket warranties (even good ones like Fidelity).
While your dealer may accept the warranty now they can easily change their minds like ours did. You can refund the good warranties for a pro-rated portion but you still lose a lot of coin.
Car dealer service departments are basically the worst businesses on earth.

The site sponsor, Fidelity (/ Trenton O. Gibson / Highline Autos) should look into this They always are quick to say "we cover it" Except dealership(s) not accepting the coverage.

As another poster has said, "Caveat Emptor" X nth power.
Be ready to consider this 2020 Taycan a "disposable" item. The battery repair might be close to 1/2 the value of the car. Then on a turbo version, you know there were multiple Launch Control takeoffs. Air suspension is $$$
FYI:
Sold Nov 29, 2024, 2020 Porsche Taycan TURBO, 9900 miles, $70,100.00, 12 bids

This is the only example of this across all Porsche dealerships in the country, and just another sales tactic by an Independent Porsche dealer to push people to purchase their extended warranty coverage, OP said it has nothing to do with Fidelity specifically.

You checked with allthe Porsche dealerships in the country?

Yes, he did. Please see # 2 in the OP's list
In my 5 years experience this independent Las Vegas dealership is the only one I've heard of not accepting the warranty coverage. But again, it is a blanket policy applying to all extended warranty coverage not sold by that specific Porsche dealer. Nothing to do with any issues or bad experiences with Fidelity Warranty Services, just a sales tactic for customers to purchase the coverage the dealership is selling.
I can only speak for my local dealer. That is their arrangement. They are one of the largest dealers in the country and have a lovely facility, classic center, etc. Had they treated me with decency and respect they would have had a lifelong customer.
Instead they focus on robbing their customers blind. The extended warranty scam is their latest tactic for maximum cash extraction.
Thanks everyone for weighing in! Great information and feedback.
I bought the 2020 Taycan Turbo. The car is in very good condition with 25k miles. Battery SoH is 94% which seems good for the age and miles.
I went with MaxCare as my local Porsche dealership said they take it and my car is an October 2020 build so it still has 3.5 years of battery warranty.
On top of that, when I dropped the car off at Porsche for an inspection and to take care of a recall the service advisor said they rarely have issues with Taycan's outside of the recalls. There have been some software glitches but they are mostly all fixed by now.
