I haven’t picked up the car yet, but I got a “your battery is charged” message in the app. So I opened it. It’s now showing 261 miles of range for my 2021 Turbo S

i think I got a new 2025 battery

Got the car back. I have the installed battery S/N, but advisor couldn't tell me for sure if it's a 2025 battery or not. But it clearly has to be given the better range?

More range is what I want. To me, the range I am getting on my CT4 is the only thing I do not like. If I sell, that would be the ONLY reason. A "new" battery offering +20% more range would make it a keeper 100%.

Anecdotally it seems that when individuals from various forums, (AudiWorld; BMW, etc.) have had either partial or complete battery replacement, the GOM after the reset always seems to give a very optimistic initial range, which then moderates with usage.

However, here’s hoping you did get a ‘25 battery! 👍

Not to discourage you, but the 2025 battery update came with many software changes; none of which have been offered to the J1.1 models yet. Your higher range estimate is almost surely as described by @thebishman

But hey, there's always hope.

That's fair. I guess time will tell. 100% charge was giving me 219 miles of range after ~30K miles. We will see how this battery's range comes along as I add miles. I will say I have a crap ton of "reprogramming" line items associated with my battery replacement. Maybe there's an unadvertised way they do it.

Either way I am still happy that I have a zero mile battery to start with.

I guess that's the reason why I was confused and, to some extent, the dealer too. The attached doc gives a clear explanation of the recall. Bottom line is, I'll pick up my car and will have to bring it back to the dealer when the software is available.
I researched this issue before I committed to my 2022 Taycan last month. Mine has the ARB6 recall open, which is the software update part of the recall. I don't get why a software update is not available immediately and why "parts" are needed for this but I was told it is safe to drive the Taycan and I will have to bring it in for the ARB6 recall whenever my dealer gets the "parts". Unless the software update involves some hardware change too, this is bizarre to me.

If you have a 2022 Porsche Charger Connect, there is a recall for the charging cable. I don't know what the recall number is but my dealer replaced mine before I took possession of the car.

I do not believe it is possible to get a 2025 battery in you older Taycan. They made many changes to the newer model.

What part number battery did you get as shown on your repair order? I got a 9J1-915-100-EX battery pack, remanufactured purportedly from 2023 for my 2020 4S....After charging to 80% without AC I'm getting about 280 miles around town driving in FL. I log the range after each charging session so I can watch for trends.

Are you sure you have whole new battery (pack) or a few “defective” cells replaced? If it is the latter, the other cells will have similar challenges?

The Macan is an inferior model not deserving of the Porsche badge…. If you live in a place like Southern Cal, you pretty much have a choice of about 15 Porsche dealers to choose from.
You are fortunate to have many dealers to choose from. Even so, insisting on a Taycan works?

About the dig into Cayenne, if not for the Cayenne, Porsche would have gone belly up twenty years ago. I do agree the Macan is questionable. Have you seen or driven the Macan E? Apparently it is very good

So they only replace the questionable cells and not the whole battery pack? If the whole battery pack is being replaced, the dealership could have a new battery pack in stock when you arrive, and they’ll swap out your battery for the new battery. Albeit that’s not an easy task.

Replacing the questionable cells is yet not fixing the problem, there’s going to be adjacent cells going bad “next week”.

So I'm planning to hang out on this one for a bit... I think this ends in a full buy back or full new replacement with warranty.
You said it. This fix is a band aid on a cancer.

That’s not how this fix works. What I’m reading is that they are not replacing the whole battery pack. The “recall” is; testing the battery pack for bad cells and replacing the bad cells. Aforementioned is done at specific locations.

Our battery was damaged in shipping - we got a replacement. I’ve no idea if if’s new or refurbished (claimed new and price listed at $38k). Too soon to tell if the range is different.

Please may we know who made the claim of $38k? Which year is your Taycan?

Thanks
