Default EA chargers congestion reduction pilot

Do we really need a pilot for this? This should have been the rule from Day 1. Too many asshats refuse to leave until reaching 100% SOC and holding up the line for everyone.

"Congestion Reduction Pilot

At Electrify America, we’re committed to delivering a positive charging experience for every driver. As we explore strategies to reduce wait times and increase throughput across our network, we’ve launched a pilot that enforces a State of Charge (SOC) limit at select locations. Once a vehicle reaches 85% State of Charge, the charging session will automatically end, and drivers will have 10 minutes to move their vehicle before idle fees are incurred."

About time they did this, I've seen plenty of a-holes sitting there charging at like 20-30kw at over 90%.

This totally free charging policy is an open invitation for abuse. They should look into charging a nominal fee, say $5 "plug-in fee", each and every time to deter the freeriders who have nothing better to do than topping up their EVs because it's free.

Tesla figured it out - why can’t other charging systems? Just another reason to go with them because their lead on everything is so massive.

You can dislike Elon and still have the best EV experience, or you can go with other brands and know up front that there are compromises you will have to make.

it’s especially infuriating when a prius or a mini is camping on a 350Kw charger to get from 95% to 100% and then just sits in the stall after by disconnecting the charger. Vola. No idle fees.

Still 10 minutes of grace period to move the car is way too generous. They really need to cut it down to 5 minutes or less to get the line moving.

Heck, it only costs $5 to charge my daughters Model 3 from empty at home and something like $20 at a supercharger.

Maybe better to charge the $5 fee if charging exceeds 85% capacity? I could see driving on a longer trip and wanting to fill it, and if that means 1 less stop... I'd gladly pay the fee.

In think everyone forgets that the free charging that you get for 24 months is only for the first 30 minutes per charge, so don’t think you can get to 100% charge when you are at 25%?
