Hmm the competition is growing. I bought a Model Y tesla about a month back and got a $3500 Tesla Factory Incentive on top of the rebates..

Audi had discounts up to $7500 on their EV's.
Everyone is trying to get rid of them any way they can!

I heard that Mercedes is dumping them and will terminate their production all together.
Depreciation on all these EVs is likely to be horrendous going forward. They should wait until the technology improves on this stuff with much greater range on a charge along with cold weather performance and revisit the marketing of these vehicles at some point in the future.

The only problem with EVs is all the misinformation that there no good. The newest Taycan’s range and performance have impressive improvements,

but If people continue to listen to all the negative and untrue stories manufactures will have to slow production . Seems all the nonsense is mostly coming from the US and overseas sales are still strong.

Manufacturers are also having to compete with strong China brands that are real bargains.

For the last year and a half, prices of lithium (the main battery component in BEVs) have been falling sharply: from USD 59/kg at the peak to USD 13/kg now. BEV prices should therefore also fall (and in fact, e.g. Tesla lowered prices).

You ‘heard’ incorrectly then. There is one top of the line BEV variant, (read expensive) that MB have stopped developing but they are still moving ahead with other lines.

You can purchase a fantastic BEV today that can return > 350 mile range at an average 70mph on the highway, and has a 0-60 mph time of 4.0 seconds; that’s a BMW ix50. And at 100% SoC it will still get you > 250 mile range easily in Winter conditions.

Yes, there are still issues with ‘Charger Anxiety’, especially in certain parts of the country, but that is being addressed. Given > 95% of driving needs are within a 50 mile radius on a daily basis, there is nothing better as a DD imho. My BMW iX M60 costs me Pennie’s/mile to run and is a hoot to drive. All BEVs will take a massive step forward when a true Solid State battery becomes available, but BEVs work today perfectly well for so many people.

I know the Mercedes EQ products have looks that are … polarizing.

but I have an EQS580 SUV, and for a family / road trip EV it’s incredible! They don’t get enough credit.
