In my last post, I showed everyone how to easily replace a Taycan battery module (by the way, that Taycan is still going strong 6 months after that repair which some of you armchair engineers deemed "extremely unprofessional" LOL....). DIY: Taycan Battery Module Replacement
Anyways, today I'm gonna show everyone how I retrofitted Lane Change Assist (LCA) in one of my customer's Taycan. We have retrofitted ACC, RAS, Night View Assist, Soft Close Door, etc. However LCA is among the simplest ones.
Step 1: Remove the rear bumper, install the frames to support the modules and install them:
Step 2: Remove the door panels, disassemble the mirrors and wire the connector for the new mirrors with LCA. Then integrate the new wiring harness into the already existing one. My LCA kit comes with a wire with two terminals for the LCA mirrors. Connect the white wire to terminal 12 and green wire to terminal 4 in J386/J387 (door modules)
Step 3: Disassemble the entire center console to get access to J533 (CAN gateway):
Step 4: Take my wiring harness from the LCA modules at the rear bumper all the way to the CAN gateway module (under the center console):
Step 5: Integrate the wiring harness from LCA ECUs into CAN GATEWAY harness.
Step 6: Grab your PIWIS4, login to PIWIS ONLINE and add LCA to the car.
Step 7: Test LCA
Step 8: Put everything back together, return the car to customer.
Easy peasy, yeah?
PS: We have kits for LCA, LKA, ACC, RAS, Soft Door Lock, Heated Steering Wheel. for models Taycan 9J1, Panamera 971, Cayenne 9AY, 992 & Cayman/Boxster 718.
If somebody needs a kit, I can ship it worldwide. BUT make sure your skill level will allow you to perform this retrofit beforehand. Retrofitting one of these is not like installing a Dashcam.
Cheers!
PS2: Let's see how long it takes for someone to claim my retrofit isn't up to standards or something like that
Like what you're doing, keep up the good work.
Would be interested in a Matrix headlight install and programming kit for US, needs to integrate with NVA to highlight people.

Sorry pal,
In this exceptional case, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to say I don't have a solution for your problem. As I'm not familiar at all with US regulations. I know however that a portion of PDLS is not legal in the US.
Maybe think about soft close doors, that one is as simple as replacing 4 door locks. Plug and play. No coding necessary. Feels good afterwards!
Thanks, have soft close on another car, nice feature.
US NHTSA issued final ADB rules two years ago (attached), so I'm assuming at some point Porsche will enable Matrix functionality, at least for new sales.

If it's a matter of installing PDLS lights on your Taycan, like Rest of World Taycan, then surely I can help.
We would have to sort out how to perform the coding with PIWIS (must be done remotely by me) cuz the dealer in the US won't be willing to do this.
Also I can not assure that afterwards it will meet US regulations or connect to NVA (whatever this is) or anything like that.... I can only guarantee it would be exactly the same as RoW Taycan with PDLS.
Also note, doing this modification is likely to void your battery warranty at Porsche US. (Because when we code the features with PIWIS, it will be sent to Porsche database through PIWIS and your car's record will be updated as having PDLS, so yeah...)
For the 9J1I Taycan in the US PDLS was optional, which I ordered, then Matrix was the next option, which I didn't order because Matrix isn't enabled.
NVA (Night Vision Assist) integration with Matrix is directing light at pedestrians to make them more visible, and also to alert the person they're too close to the road.
There's someone using a cloned offline PIWIS to enable Matrix, presumedly by changing the region code on related ECUs, but for some reason 2023 and up is a problem so far.

Ah yes, I can do it with PIWIS 4 online and PPN login. But are you sure it will not ruin your warranty?
From what I know it will! Because it will update your record.
The Matrix headlights are not a programmable feature like PDLS, it's a different design and may also require a different wiring harness.
Maybe not attempted on a Taycan, but a project to install Matrix headlights on another model was abandoned because of difficulties with that.

Yes, but even after changing the headlights and redoing their wiring it won't work unless you code it with PIWIS 4 online.
We've done one one car like this, it's not difficult but you gotta do some rewiring. Easier than retrofitting Night View Assist for sure......
Yes, please, and I already have NVA.
If you would supply the Matrix headlight and wiring kit, and remote program it with PIWIS, I could take my chances with warranty.
Would be hard for Porsche to say enabling a feature that is available ROW would somehow damage the car, or does a non dealer update with PIWIS automatically void the warranty?

I could provide the Blue matrix for $3,700 US for the set and remote coding with PIWIS 4 included (you need SmartLink C to do it + I need to install a VPN in one of your computers and pray that your network will be fast lol). This does not include shipping to US nor US customs.
Be aware, for wiring I could provide the diagrams and answer your questions etc but you still have to do it yourself as well as disassembling (or find someone to get it done for you).
