Isn't that the most unwise thing the dealer could do? 5% discount would not drive the dealership to Chapter 11. Maybe it is the sales person, his/her commission?

You directly speaking to the sales manager might help?

Neither one makes any sense, unless you live in a large metro area and will only use it locally and for commuting to work there, and will only slow charge it locally.
Forget about going anywhere hundreds of rural miles away, unless you have a trailer to put it on and a tow vehicle.
Do I need to list all the issues of trying to go to far away places and recharging EV batteries?
You need to be aware that the life of today's EV Li batteries is $$$$$hortened by fa$$$$$t charging.
And we have not yet seen the impact of the increased fire ri$k and in$urance rate$, when charging EVs in an attached garage, or in a garage underneath large apartment or commercial or office buildings.

this is so wrong and ill informed on many levels.
if you hate EVs so much why do you participate in this devoted to EV forum?

OP, there’s no way for anyone to provide valid input on those two cars without seeing the option list and sticker price. The price of either of those cars can vary widely depending upon options.

Agreed.

Afaik, the one decent study that was done a few years ago showed about a 5% difference due to fast charging.
Plugshare and other apps exist that show a quite comprehensive amount of chargers available, and more are coming online every month. Sure, there's going to be some that're down, or heavily occupied, but never to the point of not being able to find an effective charge to allow continuing on.

I get that some folks don't want an EV, that's fine. But the lengths they'll go with nonsense arguments is pathetic, at best.

misinfored much?

there is a lot to unpack here - but mostly it's FUD and wrong and lacks any factual basis - it's fine you dont' want an EV - that doesn't make them wrong or non-functional.

You mean they wanted to go in dry w/no lube? 5K is just a little bit of spit for some lubricity. Sheesh.

These guys are serial rapists. Animals I tell ya.

As a point of reference for you. I just purchased last week a 2021 Taycan Turbo S with 7,500 miles. Chalk exterior with black interior. MSRP of 214k. It’s CPO with about 4 years of warranty. New tires and fully serviced. I paid 132k shippped to my house from an out of state dealer. I think perhaps I might have overpaid a bit but the spec was near perfect for what I wanted and I needed a car… pricing was in line with what all the other dealers had cars listed for. Although i didn’t call everyone to negotiate. Even still looking at posted ads by Porsche dealers that price seems to be the market, but perhaps that’s the Porsche dealer premium and it’s high? Overall I’m happy but coming from a 911 it surely is a different depreciation schedule. They’re incredible machines though!

that being said my advice is find a build you like and buy it. Maybe you’re a few grand over or under but at least you get what you want and can enjoy it. Maybe prices continue to drop, maybe they don’t. At the end of the day what matters most is what you enjoy.
