Who the F in their right mind posts their net worth on a car forum? Asking for a friend.

I resemble this remark.

When I was a kid, a Porsche 911 was one of my dream cars. See also the Porsche 924 Turbo. But as I got older, I could just never bring myself to pull the trigger. The cars seemed too...indulgent and far too flashy. I couldn't imagine being comfortable being seen in one. So I stuck with BMWs and Mercedes Benzes. (Yes, stodgy. I know.)

I've long been interested in the environment, so I went all in with a Fisker Karma (*terrible* car) and then two Tesla Model S's. I totally fell for the electric drivetrain. But when Elon showed us who he is, I decided I no longer wanted a car so closely associated with him.

That led me to a Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo (I've always been a sucker for a wagon). If I'm being totally honest, it hasn't been the smoothest transition. I love the way the car drives--the handling, the acceleration, the brakes--are far superior to anything else I've ever driven. And the looks I get on the road, including the occasional thumbs up, are gratifying. I'm also completely amused by the 911 drivers who are clearly repeating the mantra, "I must not look at the electric abomination. I must not look at the electric abomination. I must not look at the electric abomination." as I pull up next to them in traffic. But the tech in the Taycan is just absolutely annoying as hell. For a car that costs as much as this one costs, it's inexcusable. That aspect has kept me from feeling like I'll become a Porsche loyalist. And that, alone, disappoints me to no end. I want to love this car. But I struggle with it.

I think it is OK. It’s not like people are scanning and posting their investment portfolio and tax returns. People can write anything on a forum - it doesn’t have to be truthful.

You're making my point for me. Let me amplify:

1) Why post it since there is a good chance no one will believe you? The curious can Google demographics of Porsche buyers and get accurate information.

2) Even if you're truthful, what does it accomplish? At best a fleeting moment of self-satisfaction. In this day and age of big data and cybercrime, bragging about a high NW on a car forum could attract identity thieves.

Not worth it for a moment of smugness IMO.
