Default PSCB

worth it? I have to lock down my build within a couple weeks. Switching back and forth between eMission wheels (which require PSCB) and RS Spyder Wheels, which obviously do not require it. Love eMission wheels, but, man that additional $3500 or $4400 bucks for PSCB just burns me. Thoughts?

The taycan doesn’t need them. The regen really cuts down on a lot of brake wear. Now, what price for beauty is a different question…

Depends what you're doing with it. Looked into them last year for an engineering report, they're a happy halfway between iron and ceramics but not halfway between in price so theyre a great option. If your thinking of tracking your taycan and dont want to splurge on the PCCB's its definitely the best option - will give you greater performance plus have far greater wear especially on track. If not the irons would do just fine however if you do love the eMission wheels I reckon go for it. You will get a fair bit more out of the brakes so will get some money back in brake replacements down the line and its not just a $4000 cosmetic fee plus possibly greater resale. At the end of the day if your spending this much on a car you may aswell go that little bit extra to make it just how you want.

The biggest benefit of PSCB is less dust.

Not worth it in my opinion, as stated most braking is done by regen so you won’t notice much difference in performance and at the rotors are very pricey to replace ($6,000) pads will be $700 as well.

Totally worth it. They’re bigger and bigger brakes are nice to have on top of the regen when a car weighs 2-2.5 tons. No brake dust on the wheels — they stay clean. They won’t rust up when you wash the car, or ever for that matter.

Replacement costs aren’t particularly relevant for an EV as they last so darn long.

You mean PCCB. He's talking about PSCB (surface coated)

nope. I meant what I said and I’m aware he’s talking about pscb. Taycan does fine with steel. Porsche brakes are fantastic. All of them. Man is on a budget. Less dust isn’t especially compelling if you’ll notice $4000 missing. With Bev regen there is a lot less wear on the physical components, at least for road use. There’s no performance benefit off track at non-felony speed.

OP needs to decide if he wants the Mission E wheels or the RS wheels. The brakes are not, by themselves, worth it.

PSCB doesn’t rust nor have rusty look after raining/car washing while iron rotors do. Also, the larger shinny rotors to help full the inner wheel barrel is a big plus!

I thought Caynne Turbo owners a while back were complaining about PSCB, has that been solved?

The mission wheels look awesome on the Taycan. As said before the looks is the main feature so if you want that feeling every day you drive then the price is worth it. I get compliments every time I drive the car and I attribute that to the wheels, and paint color.

no (based on what’s being reported over at the Cayenne forum).

Other than brake squeal, what has been the problem with the PCSB on the Cayenne?

Only worth it if you want no brake dust and shiny rotors in perpetuity. Bigger brakes also look better when they fill out the wheel barrel. No brake dust is pretty nice. I find it surreal not having any with pccb.

Dust isn’t really an issue w it’s the standard brakes. I hadn’t washed my car in like 6 weeks :-) and put almost 1k miles on it. Washed it yesterday and had minimal, and i really mean, minimal buildup on the wheels. Not much different than the 911 i hard with carbon brakes.
As stated. Regen.
