Completely agree, the amount of research, innovation, and technology advancements that are in todays PPF is way more than most people can imagine. No way I would buy a new car, let alone a Porsche, and not put PPF on it.

Nah, im good. Really its the same thing. This obsession with everything must stay perfect is such a waste of mental space. So it gets some rock chips and the leather wears, and you, god forbid, get a scratch or a dent. i miss the days when people drove their expensive cars and some wear was the sign of a car well loved, not something to be shamed.

Except for the next guy that owns it.

What’s wrong with driving the car hard and protecting it as best you can? Seems to be a novel concept to some I guess.

this was on a 718 spyder so 1.5 years ago. I’ve heard of a couple of other stories fro
this particular factory store. Now that I’ve said I hate it I’m wondering if I should put it on my exposed carbon fiber hood and mirrors…. Ironic.

Because across 25 nice cars in 30 years of buying and selling them, the most I've every spent to make a car perfect for sale after my ownership is $2000 (typically under $500), and the quote I got for full PPF by the company I trust on the new CT is $8500. I can not explain it better than that. I have put it on several cars. I'm extremely familiar with the look, the maintenance, and the appearance. It's not worth it to me *this time*.

for the thousands of dollars that plastic coating costs, you could have any minor damages fixed by a body shop and still come out ahead.
the plastic covering on furniture is a hilarious

So now im gonna spend my worrying about the guy who buys it from me.

Do you cover your seats with a towel? The steering wheel with a hair net? The shifter with some cloth condom?

If somebody thinks a 30k mile taycan should be perfect, they can buy someone elses

I hear you man. What would be totally awesome and forthcoming is if you would state exactly what you just wrote to every potential buyer of any car of yours for sale verbally and upfront. Will you do that? I mean Word for Word?

Do I cover my steering wheel and my seats? No. However I do have a professional car care person come to the house every two weeks to clean the entire inside and outside so that by the time he is done it always looks better than when I picked it up at the dealership. I have all my cars done that way including my Tacoma and Camry as well as my wife’s BMW. I did not PPF the Tacoma or Camry but I did the BMW and my Porsche as well as all my previous luxury sports cars. I really like these vehicles and I want them to look as good as possible for as long as possible. I guess this seems pretty stupid to you. No big deal. Everyone’s a little different I guess.

You seem really emotionally attached to PPF.

Why? His argument against it made zero sense. I mean not even a little bit of sense. Nothing emotional about that.

It came from the factory with PPF on the front. What you mean to ask is why didn’t I PPF the whole vehicle. The reason why it’s because I don’t care about that car. It means nothing to me because I use it for work only. Besides it didn’t cost $250,000. I hope this helps.

Consider that some of us feel about a Taycan the way you feel about your Camry, and there's people that feel about your Camry the way you feel about your Taycan.

I did do just that. If you read my other posts you’ll see that I stated that if people didn’t care about their car I would then completely understand them not investing in protecting it.
