Default I just bought a Taycan 4S

Sold my BMW M8. They had a used for S come in on trade. Got a decent deal. I’m impressed by the way it drives for an electric car. The handling is great nice and tight. Power is more than adequate. Fit and finish is excellent as to be expected from Porsche. Very happy with the purchase.

What do you mean by "way it drives for and electric car"? Before my '21 Taycan I owned a Tesla and agree it is an appliance compared to a driving machine but they're both cars.

Thumbs up

Congratulations!

I test drove a 2021 4S. It was very impressive, power, handling and the look and feel of the interior was awesome. I was about to buy it, then the GTS arrived...

Interested in your impressions from the BMW M8 thou. Its BMW's halo sports car and now sport GT also so how does the Taycan 4S fare in comparison? Any regrets or striking differences? Congrats BTW on your new ride!

The m8 was a spectacular car. Powerful, quick, sleek. Looked great. Got lots of questions about it. But with a Pista in the garage and a 765 Spider and GT3 incoming, I really needed a 4 door, 4 seater.

I drove the M8 for almost 2 years and would have happily kept it longer but for the need for more practical daily driver.

Id buy an M8 again maybe but the one thing I didn’t like about the m8 was that it was a heavy pig. Very fast but you felt the weight.

The Taycan has spoiled me. It’s early but I really enjoy driving it. I hates electric cars. We had a Model s and X. Pieces of crap but my wife won’t drive anything but an electric. She hates going to the gas station. I like driving, I like engaging with my cars. I like the roar of the engine. We currently have an Etron that my wife drives and that thing is bland and boring. There is no connection to the car. The Taycan is visceral, and engaging.

I have the 4s as I did t want to get a turbo as I didn’t really need the speed with what else is in the garage and the 4s is plenty fast. Full charge it’s about 275 miles which for city driving is plenty for my needs.

Porsche hit a home run with this car. Colored me impressed.

id never call M8 a halo sports car. Not in a sense halo is, ie not what an R8 was to Audi, or M1 was to BMW. M8 is a massive heavy big engine grand tourer with 4 door practicality i think.

i also cant help but notice OP thinks M8 is heavy, and likes Taycan, and owns proper sports cars. Quite a contrast to all the anti Taycan people calling Taycan heavy, forgetting how heavy modern big engined ICE cars can be (M8, RA6, C63 etc).

When I got my Taycan, a friend with a Performance Model 3 took it for a spin with me, and his first thought after complimenting the interior cabin, was how much it drives like a regular car, and less like an RC car that the Tesla is. The acceleration was still there, but he said it felt more refined, and he was blown away by the lack of body roll.

I previously owned a Model S, and although I loved that car, you felt its weight, and the air suspension wasn't that great, making it feel like you were sailing in a giant boat. The Taycan is just as big, but you would never know it with how well Porsche has engineered the vehicle. While not as nimble as my Boxster was (what is?), it is still a pure Porsche experience.

Taycan is heavy. One of the reasons I bought it was to take advantage of the section 179 deduction as it’s over 6000 pounds. But you don’t feel the weight and it’s plenty quick.

Another couple of days of driving since my last post and loving the car more and more.

Body roll in Tesla is so annoying. It’s so much better in the Taycan. 2 Tesla’s and I’ll never buy another. Taycan is just so much better.

For sure. Although I definitely will be looking at Tesla's for my kids as they get a little closer to driving age. Good safety ratings, easy to maintain, and very practical. If a sub 30k model ever drops that's been hinted, watch out.

And the tax code seems to say that vehicle must be SUV or farm type equipment.
