So the latest word is that Porsche dealerships cannot take new orders for any vehicles with power seats or seat ventilation for 2 months due to the chip shortage. So far it seems that cars scheduled for production soon have not been impacted. Heard that from a SA yesterday afternoon. Also posted on the 992 forum is a comment that many cars arriving at ports now do not have TPMS sensors installed, and those are being installed by techs at the port causing significant delays there. Not heard that confirmed, but Porsche is clearly being squeezed a lot now and with the seat thing I have to assume the Taycan will be affected as well.
My order is in production now (this week) and according to Porsche no delays. (14-way ventilated seats)

What the dealers told me was related to new orders. Presumably customer orders that have been in process are being built. My local dealer also confirmed that Porsche has changed some of their recent stock/inventory orders for Macans removing the electric seats and premium package from the builds.

These typically are ordered on the GT cars, however the 992 GT3 is not in normal production as of today. So that leaves the GT4.
So almost no new orders for any Taycan? No wonder you keep seeing headlines about this chip shortage affecting GDPs...

Yep - sounds like a big deal. Sure has pounded domestic auto makers already. It will be interesting to see how Porsche manages it, and if they're able to prioritize certain models and keep them going at a reasonable pace. If they were going to protect any, I'd think the Taycan would be high on the list to maintain the momentum they currently have with it. Fingers crossed. I'm waiting for a MY 22 allocation for a 4S.
I spoke with my Porsche Ambassador today, I asked him about this. He told me they have two models affected as follows:
Macan - 3 month delay on orders anticipated
Cayenne - 1 month delay on orders anticipated
No other vehicles are affected.
Sounds a lot better than what my guys relayed. Hope it's true - suspect at best it's going to be a fluid situation. I have to go in to my local dealer on Thursday for a software update on my 992 so will see what they have to say then. Waiting on a Taycan 4S allocation now, so hoping for the best there.

This is because Porsche like other manufacturers are likely prioritizing avail supply to certain production lines to keep them going. Others have done the same due to the chip shortages and cut some production lines down or stopped them to altogether. So it will be an affect to Porsche like noted above...just hope it stays to those two lines. Also glad my 2021 992S was delivered last Nov...and with 4 way manual seats! Hell I am the only driver so no need for 18 ways or even 14 ways. Know where I set them and leave them alone! Would do the same for a Taycan also!
The zero option Taycan will be very desirable at 79900
It is and that's why I pulled the trigger. Realistically, add 20% to any Porsche for preferred equipment and options. I was gentle and my car came out to $106,300.
