PECLA has a huge backlog these days. Blame the Cali dealers and their ADM’s.
Next step will be to expand PECLA, and the next step after that will be to phase out the dealership allocation model in favor of something closer to what Tesla does.
We shall see.

THey'll need to do something. My car just entered production and they communicated an April PECLA slot after a late February delivery to PEC-LA. That's fine, but I'd be annoyed to see it go further than early April and they are currently scheduling March.
They no longer have PECLA available as a delivery option for any car other than Taycan and GT3. I only know that because my Spyder could either be delivered in July to the dealer or PEC Atlanta, but not to LA. Apparently it's only GT cars (which I thought the Spyder was) and Taycans.
Well, you'd think getting an email from PECLA that they can now schedule my CT4 delivery would be a good thing... uhhhh, not really. My car touched down in Port of Houston today with an ETA at PECLA 1/14 (I guess that's with time buffers of getting it off the shipping transport/processed and onto a rig and transported to Los Angeles). The first delivery date offered to me was March 25th...WTF!!! Most dates available were mid to late April. Honestly, I still can't make heads or tails about this. Had I known that this would delay the delivery 12-16 weeks I would have just taken normal delivery (Purchased from Porsche Monmouth (NJ) but had an option for delivery to Porsche Walnut Creek (CA), the dealership's "sister" location). Anyhow, I guess this is a 1st world problem and I should just suck it up, but it's really painful to think that my car is here (I live in SD, so not too much of a drive) and it needs to sit in the lot for that long before I can take delivery. August '21 allocation with a freeze Oct. 9. The original ETA was 12/31/21, so a 2-week delay didn't seem all that bad with what's been going on lately...
and yes, I tried to ask for the Feb 18th date. That was there by mistake, so not actually an option.
Wow...that sucks. Would definitely be asking for a way to get the car from nearest dealer in Houston or re-routed as a courtesy delivery to a dealer near you in CA. Talk to Porsche NA or your selling dealership. In this case they should be able to help you out given the long lag time in the PEC-LA delivery time/schedule.
Already in the works. They’re (My current AD and Porsche Carlsbad/San Diego) currently working on a courtesy delivery with me. It was kind of circumventing shipping by doing a PEC delivery (we own places in Northern NJ/NYC which is where I got my allocation) since I want it for here for our CA home and didn’t want to buy and ship. Also, the no sales tax on EV’s in NJ was a kicker to do it this way.
Again 1st world problems, but nonetheless, a problem.
