Have any US Taycan owners replaced the amber side marker lights?
I don't have my Taycan yet but I've already purchased the (backordered) clear Euro style side marker lights to replace the stock amber ones when it arrives...first upgrade to every Porsche I buy.
There's usually a bit of a trick to making the swap on each model so was wondering if anyone has done this on a Taycan and could share their experience.

My tip is if you get them before your car arrives, make the dealer install them before you take delivery as a term of the deal. It doesn't take any time if you know what you're doing. They should be happy to do it for you.

I had the dealer install mine when the car was in for it's OTA software update…

I did find some info on another Taycan forum regarding the swap and feedback ranged from the typical "it only took 15 minutes" to "I had some problems".
Thinking about it, I'm having the dealer install Xpel on the front end and I'm assuming they will need to remove the side marker lights anyway. I like to DIY but it would make sense to just have them replace the existing lights with the clears.

I swapped them out myself. Having done it on several Porsches now, including 718s and a 992, the Taycan was definitely a bit trickier than the others. There's a liner in the wheel well that needs to be pulled back to expose the screws that need to be undone to remove the side marker, and then there are some loose pieces that need to be carefully put back into place without knocking them out of alignment. Personally I'd suggest having the dealer do it for the Taycan (most other models are significantly easier, they just snap in/out).

I did this myself but i don't remember it as being complicated....if i recall i just pushed the side marker lights toward the wheel (from front to back) and then lifted the front end of the light out and popped right out....i will look for the market I took out and take picture of the backside of it and post in morning.

But i do remember it being quick....below is the picture of the backside of light and the screw inside the wheel well.

Thanks for posting these. I've seen postings that refer to "spacers" that were part of the original lights that had to be pried off, transferred to and glued on the new markers because the new ones didn't come with them. Any recollection about dealing with that and if so, how much of a hassle it was?

Buy lights, try to put them in, if you hit a snag, have the sealer do put it for you.

Dealers will typically swap them out for you. Sadly, if you take delivery at a Porsche Experience Center in LA or Atlanta, they can't do it since the manufacturer has to deliver a DOT-compliant car. I was able to do it myself in about half an hour, which was about 25 minutes for one side and five for the other once I'd figured it out. :-)
