Default Germany just got served

The new Hummer is going to run over all the other EVs like a speed bump.

Fall 2021 - 112k base price - nothing affordable until 2024 - limited quantities until further notice - I’ll reserve my judgement until they’ve actually delivered something, but the specs are great and impressive - I’m looking forward to our EV future…

this is an interesting transition - from one of the very worst eco vehicles to full electric. just odd.
now, 1000 hp and 11,500 FT/LB OF TORQUE!!! ELEVEN THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED. I assume it can tow a planet.
passing assist?? seriously? why are people unable to actually drive today? too busy posting to instagram and drinking a ****ing latte...
no matter your opinion, this is an interesting entry into the "supertruck" (their words) category. still not a buyer, especially at $112k. almost exactly $10/ft.lb. torque.

You should reserve your Hummer now, Edition 1 is sold out already so the most you can spend is $99k on one. It’s only $100
I’ve always wanted to give myself a Hummer...
OK, OK, enough already! 🤦‍♂️

That's calculated wheel torque. Useless and pointless number.

A base 992 Carrera already is producing over 5000lb-ft. Very impressive number on paper consider the engine is actually only making 331lb-ft.

Meh, I just watched Jason Fenske's BTS video on it. To be honest, I'd rather have a Rivian....assuming that 1) I was in the market for an EV SUV / Pickup and 2) They ever get off the ground and start making them.

This? Too much like a cartoon, and while I think it's a legitimate EV judging by the specs, the gimmicks are more special than it's chops as an EV. 350 miles sounds great but I bet that it's a gigantic battery powering that thing and recharge times are going to be out the wazoo.

Nah, I don't need that much 'Murica in my life. Enough bro dozers around every day for me to get a flavor of it.

**Jeremy Clarkson voice**
They say it has a 200kWh battery and is the size of a small building. It makes the Cybertruck look like some kind of weird origami thing, which I guess it is. The rear steering is driver controlled. It has 13” of wheel travel. It has cameras on its bottom!
But, best of all, it is a convertible! 😎
I don’t know guys, but I’m pretty proud of the home team with this one. It kinda reminds me of Bisimotos electric 935 in that it totally embraces the brands heritage but in a radical new way. Now, about that nationwide fast charging network...

200 kWh battery
350 miles / range.

1.75 miles / kWh

Yup, it's a Hummer all right. Hard to be "proud of the home team" with that level of consumption. But GM can do it because the masses just hear "350 mile range" and they think, COOL!

It's a huge hummer truck. What did you expect? A Model X gets about 3.5 miles / kWh which is twice the economy. Not that different than a Large efficient SUV getting 28mpg versus a large pickup truck getting 14mpg.

Taycan Turbo = 2.15 mi/kWh. In a low sports car with 0.25 cd (supposedly).
According to my Model Ys trip computer its averages >4 mi/kWh.
My four cylinder manual 2014 Tacoma single cab with hand crank windows is at 0.56 mi/kWh on gasoline.
So I think the Hummer is doing alright considering its the size of a locomotive and is as aerodynamic as a brick...

Taycan Turbo is about 3.0mi/kWh in real world results. But yes the Hummer isn't that bad considering it's a giant brick.

You mis-understood my point. I didn't expect any better. Merely stating that solving the problem of range by putting in a huge battery is no great engineering achievement. So there isn't much to "be proud of the home team" on with this truck. Except maybe crab mode. The cameras look pretty dope, but that's not EV specific. The only thing trick about the EV part that I can see is the 400 / 800v mode. Otherwise, pretty ho hum.

Don't think Porsche or anyone else needs to worry about the Hummer EV. A working model doesn't even exist yet: https://www.greencarreports.com/news...-tech-is-ready

Well it will come. At some time. But watching the Engineering Explained video made it very clear that what we were looking at was a COMPLETE show car. Ton of bogus stuck together production parts from other cars and 3D printed components.

I have had a deposit on the Taycan since its announcement, same with tri-motor CyberTruck. I was reluctant to purchase a 2020 anything and decided to pull the pull the trigger and put a 2021 Model Y performance FSD on order, as well as deposit on the Hummer Edition 1. Taycan is great just not for me right now.

Biggest decision maker for me was FSD on the Model Y and has the latest available tech from Tesla as well as the audio system, have you heard it? Now we will be able to travel most freeways to our getaway house stress free... Also will be able to stick to PG&E cost, planned power shutoffs, Cal ISO brown outs with Tesla Solar and Powerwall...

I still have my steel key 997.2 GT3RS when I get bored...
