Just checked and found that there is exactly ONE ElectrifyAmerica charging station here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area - in Fort Worth! Seems odd to me given that the region is bisected by I20 (mahor east-west route) and I35 (major noth-south route) through Texas. I sure hope more of these stations begin to surface soon! Anyone know of plans along either of these corridors in Texas?
Yeah, locations are pretty thin. There are only 6 here in the greater Houston area, while we have 8 Superchargers. And the number of stalls at superchargers are WAY more than at an EA station.
They have quite a long way to go, unfortunately.
Interestingly enough, A Better Route Planner already has the Taycan listed in their drop downs for planning routes. I should note that they give the baseline consumption at 335 Wh/mi at 65 MPH. I bumped it up to 350. But it looks like it would be possible to do my Woodlands - Dallas - Woodlands run in the Taycan with one extra stop. Nice that charging is free for 3 years because those charging rates are a LOT. To do the same run in my Model 3 cost like $12. My biggest worry would be stall capacity...showing up to the charger and finding someone else using the 1-2 CCS chargers that are there. That could be a real issue.
Lots of WalMarts popping up as locations for EA. There is a newish WalMart within a mile of my house, so perhaps we'll get a station there. And we are moving into a new building at work, and I am pressing our Corp Real Estate to install chargers there. That should help. I don't really want to be making detours to the DFW Porsche dealers unnecessarily,
