Has anyone looked into the costs of insurance for the Taycan or is Porsche the way to go?

I highly doubt any insurance company is going to quote you on a car that's not been released nor is the MSRP known. Hell, most of them probably don't even have it in their database yet and if you called to ask wouldn't be able to find anything.
Also, my insurance from a 2017 GTI (MSRP sub $30k) to a 2018 Model 3 (MSRP $60k) only went up like $300 / year so it's not THAT dramatic of a difference. I would have expected the same if I had bought a $60k BMW.

Talking about Insurance, Porsche is starting to deploy in the states of Oregon and Illinois, a private Insurance company to cover Porsche vehicles, based on their real value and as a function of the mileage that you do every year. At the anniversary date (with the Porsche Insurance company), you would send a picture of your odometer and your premium would then be calculated.
Porsche is hoping to appeal to a lot of collectors by insuring their vehicle to their proper value and mitigating what you pay based on your mileage. They are also promoting and guaranteeing the replacement of parts (in case of accidents) by Genuine Porsche parts, to keep the intrinsic value of the vehicle.
If that experiment works in these two states, they may expand it to additional states within the USA.

I have mine insured with American Modern Insurance. I actually found them through the National Corvette Museum when I switched my then C6 insurance many years ago. When I purchased the 911 two years ago I called for a referral and they said no need we'll cover it. Even offered a PCA discount. They are excellent and offer many options for coverage w/AV. Currently have a annual premium due in November for the C7 and 911, about $1,500 for both....FWIW.

In east central FL with Progressive I'm paying $1549 annually for 2020 Taycan 4S & 2015 Cayenne Diesel. $500K liability, $1000 collision deductible. YMMV

Porsche Auto Insurance (agreed value, Porsche OEM parts, concierge claims, etc.), offered in partnershp with Porsche Financial Services, is currently in CA, TX, PA, TN, IL, AZ, GA, OH and OR; in late October 2022, adding FL and WI. Currently a pay-per-mile program, but expanding to add "traditional" (non-pay-per-mile) for higher-mileage Porsches next year.

In general there are many variables in determining insurance premiums.
With this in mind, expect to pay more for a Taycan than other EVs. My premium is higher than for my Cayenne.
Keep driving and enjoy the car.
Cheers!
