Spyders in the Wild...
#1188
Merry Christmas to all Spyder fans from New Zealand. We have a couple of 987 Spyders in Auckland but this is the only 981. Awesome and a riot to drive. The red flowers on our Pohutukawa tree make it the NZ Christmas tree, blooms in December each year. All the best for a NA New Year!
Lovely!
We consider NZ our second home and will likely retire there.

I did an autocross today. Nice opportunity to enjoy the car being pushed a bit in the turns. My Bully was underwhelmed with being allowed to ride in this special car for only the second time.

So Cal Spyder Drive
A very strong turnout of Spyders this morning at the So Cal Spyder Drive. Brisk morning temps gave way to T-shirt weather at noon and the bluest of skies. Amazing weather for late December with more than one person commenting just how damn lucky we are to live in this sun-kissed portion of the world. Can't think of a better way to close out 2017 and begin the New Year than with a 298-mile spirited drive over some killer roads with some great folks in these amazing cars.
Here's the breakdown of attendees:
I think we all were in a bit of awe to see so many Spyders together -- I sure was!
Great to meet new faces and always wonderful to see the usual suspects (Joel, we missed you, but know that you were with us in spirit )
Wonderful job by Afshin and Chris to organize and navigate the drive. Thanks, guys.
Today was yet another opportunity to marvel at what these Spyders can do in their natural habitat and the miracle that is X73.
Here's the breakdown of attendees:
- Six 981 Spyders, all silver, with five having Spyder Classic interiors
- Two 987 Spyders, one black, one silver
- Eight Spyders total, plus a GT3 thrown in to spice things up a bit

Very cool !!
So jealous of your So Cal weather, I did manage a quick 20 mile dash yesterday in between the showers, just to keep things turning though.
Thanks for posting SJ.
Just a shame you guys could only order Silver Spyders in the US... :-)

What an amazing day! I have to admit, I do feel like the black sheep in that lineup.
We were very fortunate to have the perfect day for a Spyder fun run into the mountains of Southern California. Our day started at 38 Degrees Fahrenheit as we departed Temecula and headed to the mountains. As one can imagine, if you don’t have heated seats the cold eventually soaks in. Along the way I watched the temperature climb and drop until we reached the top of the mountain where temps settled at 60. It was perfect for our cars as we excersised them through the corners in some of the best roads in the US (IMHO).
Seeing so many Spyders in one place is without question a site to see. At every stop we had bystanders walking up to look at the cars, take pictures and pose with them. And to hear and see them in motion was even better.
We finished up the drive with lunch at a local winery with some epic views of Eastern San Diego. Overall an amazing day with some great cars, great people and great locations.
