Definitely thinking about the PCV venting system described a couple pages back... just have to figure out how to access engine from the top on a Spyder. Anyone have a DIY to access engine on the top? I'd like to do it even just to see the engine!!

(even though access not the greatest, it is easy to "see" the engine on my 914's)

its really easy , hold the unlock till the trunk opens, undo the 2 roof clips on the trunk, open the trunk , remove the carpet and foam insulation then just uncrew the screws holding the engine cover.

hope this video helps:

This one is actually a little easier and more specific to the Spyder

Wheels look great. Big fan of mesh design. What's the weight penalty? Since you went GT4-spec, direct comparison is impossible. How much did stock rims weigh? Obviously, the unsprung weight has increased. How does the car feel, on the street, if you can feel the differences at all? And, what's the verdict on Sport Header? Thanks.

Thanks. Haven't weighed them, but suspect FF01 may weigh a bit more, if anything due to greater width. I want to say that the car feels more planted, but the truth is that I have not been pushing the car enough to compare limits of adhesion. I can definitely say that the Fabspeed sport headers has made a significant improvement in acceleration, particularly at 3500-4500 rpm range. The noise gains were actually much more than I was anticipating compared to what others reported here. Exhaust note is spectacular, especially when screaming past 5,000 rpm. Overrun is ridiculous. I tell you that I am now looking for aftermarket exhaust options on my 991 RS, as it sounds somewhat tame compared to the Spyder!

Thanks for the kind words Carlos! Very glad to hear they have exceeded your expectations

Let's talk about your 991 RS when you have a chance. We have quite the variety of products available for it, but I feel our Valved Side Muffler Bypass Pipes would be a perfect fit to spice it up for you

Thanks, csesin. Sounds like (pun intended!) Sport Header (with PSE) is a hit! But, oddly, I don't want any more acceleration than stock! I actually wouldn't mind "less" power! I know, I am weird! But, the improved sound is a good thing. I need to think about it. Ideally, I would want to stay completely stock, save for the head unit.

I am looking to add new manifolds to complete the mods for this car.
So as far as I know and please correct me I f I'm wrong, there are only 3 manufacturers currently making manifolds for 981 . So looking for feed back from anyone that has installed them
Fab speed ( which I'm not a fan of , I was one of the unfortunate purchasers of their max flow exhaust for 04 996 tt which was the worst 3 grand I have spent on a mod.) so hesitant to give them any more $$$$

Cargraphic seems to always get great reviews but seems hard to find a US retailer that has any in the country

Fvd which always seems to deliver great products

So welcome thoughts and suggestions
I just ordered the Kline manifolds for my Spyder and a friends GT4. We also went with the Cobb access port, IPd plenum and GT 3 TB. No exhaust at this time, as the stock exhaust is fine. Who knows, maybe we will hear something that must replace the PSE. Sam Ahdoot with by Design Automotive is a distributor for a lot of manufacturers. He can give you some idea. Great resource. And sorry John, if I went Fabspeed, you are my guy!

As long as you went through Sam I harbor no hard feelings lol. Sam is a great guy to work with and very down to earth. Not many like him in this industry.

My Spyder with GT4 wheels and SC2 tires. Looks awesome. Drives amazing with maybe a tiny for fun tail happy when cold. Absolutely love it!
