I am new to the Porsche family and just bought a 2011 Boxster Spyder (987). Can anyone give me the details on the total number of Spyders built world wide and the number sold in the US and the years manufactured (I believe it was 2011-2012). I would also like to know how to determine the manufacture number of my vehicle. Is that something I can determine from the VIN#? Thanks for the insight and help...sorry to ask such "uninformed" questions but I am just getting started with this "Love Affair."

2011-2012 were the only build years with a large majority being built in 2011.
There should be a thread on the quantities built if you do a search.

roughly 700 for the US with just under 140 in 2012 and the rest as 2011 models

Globally there were about 1750 made and about 790 came to the US over two years. There is a VIN Decoder online that you could use and you can also send a request to PCNA and get a certificate of authenticity for $90 which lists the options.

If you post some pics here I bet we can tell what most of the options are.....
