Another cool but often overlooked fact about the Spyder, it’s one of the few Boxsters that was actually built in Stuttgart. I was just looking through all my old purchasing documentation and also found the shipping weight for my car, it was 2811 Lbs which is actually lower than I expected. That means I’m actually under 2800 Lbs with the lightweight battery and lighter tires!

They don’t. MY is irrelevant on this particular car when talking value. Any knowledgeable buyer in the market for this car likely could care less if it’s an ‘11 or ‘12. Thus, two Spyders similarly equipped in similar condition with comparable mileage separated only by year will bring the same money. But that doesn’t necessarily stop some ‘12 sellers from touting in their ads how few cars were made in that MY! This “so few made” claim might serve to impress a neophyte who doesn’t know the production history of the car as described in this thread or that the cars for those two MYs are identical, but it won’t sway an otherwise knowledgeable 987 Spyder buyer. For me personally, I get turned off by a ‘12 seller trumpeting low production numbers because I see it, rightly or wrongly, as potentially misleading to the unwary. A ‘12 is no different or no better than an ‘11 and to imply in an ad that a ‘12 is extra special or commands a premium because fewer were made that year is hogwash, if not somewhat deceptive. Some might say, well, you can’t fault a seller for trying! and others might say, hey, a buyer who doesn’t do his homework gets what he/she deserves, but I say the car is great enough to stand on its own without an owner trying to exploit phantom selling points.

Ditto. Would love to see the VIN breakdown now that many years have passed. I've seen at least one VIN that doesn't jive with the 2011/12 split outlined on the early pages of this thread.

Anyone ever figure out -- or get a good estimate on -- how many 2012 Aqua Blue Spyders were produced?
