PTS Meteor Grey Metallic on the market

If my memory serves me right I think this was the car that Eduardo posted about in the past. This car was used for Porsche roadshows and was test driven by many potential customers. While these cars are built to be driven hard, I still would be a little leery about buying a tester car.

Their asking price is several thousands of dollars higher than the asking price of the dealer that had it before them. Looks like these cars will appreciate in value after all!

1 of 4 PTS, one of a kind Spyder's. People pay top $$$ for these one off factory paint schemes.

In the time since then, the car also lost it's spyder wheels (replaced by the turbo IIs in these pics), its mileage doubled (it had 2,946 when previously on sale) and presumably there is another owner on record.
Who knows what the car will ultimately sell for, but last I checked, the things listed above have an adverse affect on resale.

Just because the asking price increased doesn't mean it will sell for more. Or is worth any more. Could be they just want more room to negotiate. Offer a 'big discount' and still sell it for more than was initially asked. The buyer thinks he got a great deal and the dealer laughs all the way to the bank.
I agree - the lack of Spyder wheels is not a good thing.

Afshin, call me crazy but despite having the blessing/fortune of driving one of the mightiest road cars ie. the RS, I still have this urge to own a spyder. My very close friend debate on this issue back and forth. He thinks that I have the perfect garage for the PNW/snoqualmie mountain pass area: A car for dry weather (997.2RS), wet weather (997.2 C4S) and foul weather (958 Cayenne). May be its you guys that are to be blamed

I get that there is a demand for unique cars like this one. But I'm a bit surprised when the asking price jumps by $6k (asking was $74k at an IL dealership).

w00t, there's a guy on another site who's going to be selling his Spyder. Black/black, MT, sport buckets. He's thinking $65,000.

I agree with ducky. Several things have happened (let's not forget time) and the price goes up by $6k? They must be dreaming. Or trying to take advantage of uninformed or desperate buyers, banking on the rarity of Spyders.

Your search probably included 2008 Boxster RS60 Spyders and Boxster Ss. Less than 2,000 produced worldwide and less than 700 in US. Select MT and sport buckets, and your choices REALLY narrow down. Though it seems there are more Spyders out there now than when I was looking (for many months).

The same increase in Spyders happened last fall. Many just buy the latest greatest and move on, it seems to be a popular trend these days. Others buy to hold on to the cars and enjoy them. Having compared the 981S to the Spyder I wouldn't choose the 981 but that's just me and the Spyder offers more of what I want. If you need some level of convenience the Spyder definitely is not the right car. It is still a pricey toy just like a Ferrari or Lambo but it comes at a much lower price.
