Cayman R -- Maryhill hillclimb
Hello,
Recently ran my R in a hillclimb event in PacNW -- figured the other Cayman owners would be interested.
Maryhill hillclimb starts at the 600-foot level with the finish line at the 1500 ft level. The course is an adrenalin pumping 2 miles long. The road itself ascends 850 feet in a series of curves with a gradient of ascent at 5%. It consists of 25 curves, 8 of which are hairpins. While there are some scary drop offs, at least we can see the road ahead -- several other hillclimbs in our series are on heavily wooded roads with poor visibility!
Two other Caymans showed up: a second gen S and a first gen base 2.7. I drove conservatively as this was my first event in the R, my first time on this hill, plus I was running street tires vs. 'R' compounds; the Goodyears were rather lacking in traction.
My best run (2:23:254) is posted on youtube. Pardon the perspective, but I needed to mount the camera where I was able to turn it on while on grid, all strapped in with harness and helmet. Will get a remote switch for the Gopro for the next event!
Cheers,
DJM
