LA Auto Show Spyder
I was surprised to see a Spyder at the LA Auto Show yesterday, since I had not heard anything about it, and since they have not been in production for a while now. I guess since there are 2012 models, it helps to fill the show floor. It is different than every Spyder I have seen, in that it has the Cayman R's more shiny finish on the wheels. They had the bikini top on it, and windows up, but not the rear window piece, which led every passerby to say how stupid it was that the car could not be secured.
Overall, I was not impressed with Porsche's display this year. A strange assortment of cars, very few of which were open to the public. Maybe it was because the big intro was a Panamera, having seen the 991 at Rennsport Reunion, and because there were no GT cars there; other than the two 991s, it was all 4-door vehicles, and sports cars that are about to be replaced. Hard to get excited about that.

The San Francisco Auto Show was even more disappointing than usual for Porsche fans. Have seen better (and larger) car collections outside of a 7-11 parking lot. The lowlight was the Carlsen Cayman R that stickers at ~99.5k due to the worst list of options ever...check it out if you want a laugh.

I, too, was bored with the Porsche display in LA this year. Although we had the opportunity to crawl around inside them a couple of nights before the opening their choice of colors bored me. With all the great colors that Porsche has in their pallet, you would think a few of them would be shown--they just brought silver, for the most part. There was nothing that was a real eye-catcher.
