The ONLY Dissapointment with the Spyder
I knew this going in, and I understand that it is just the way it is with modern circumstances being what they are, and all cars are now like this......but...
I find it so disappointing that the engine is not visible, to look at and admire as a work of art. I guess those days are gone for the the most part. The spyder really does deserve better. Save for the occasional exotic or F-car I cannot think of any modern engines that are exciting to view.
Lifting the lid on the early 911 just does something for me, and I miss that with the spyder, every thing else is perfect.

I tell people my Boxster is powered by a hydrogen chip. I show them the empty frunk. I show them the empty trunk. Then they believe me.
You want dissapointment? Look at the engine bay in a 993 Turbo. All you see is the intercooler. But, the sound!

While I agree that it would be nice to see the engine the OCD side of me is relieved since I only want to clean the engine bay once a year when getting the annual oil change.

It's super easy to get access to the engine:

There is an easier way, though- just tell people who ask to see it to get on their hands and knees and look at it from below.

Spyder isn't time consuming like the normal Boxster. Super easy... just not as easy as popping the hatch though.

yea, it is not difficult to remove the "cooler lid" and see the top of the engine...but the point is why do that, there is not much worth seeing. Not much to move you, no style. I suspect at one time the styling department was involved with engine bays. Those days are long gone.
I love the car, just making observations.
