Right now the Spyder wheels in silver are probably the nicest looking wheels offered by Porsche, and since they are also the lightest you really can't improve on them.

I have these left over from my 2007 Boxster S and just sitting on the rack at home, I'm going to try them on my black Spyder to see how they look.

OEM Spyder wheels really are the best. I have tried and tired to think of a wheel i like better on this car and i cant. Agree with others that maybe a new color for your oem wheels would be cool? Maybe a gunmetal look? Maybe all black? What about silver to match the car with a red stripe (same color as the interior) around the lip? could be cool?

that is the M3 CSL style wheel.

i was asking what you guys think it would look if the OEM Spyder wheels are powder coated in hyper black or hyper silver? I ruled out gloss black and matte black.

I think that would look pretty cool. A "hyper silver" finish on oem wheel --- cool idea. Give it a try and see what you think. Worse case you paint it back the way it was

I agree... I would buy another set of Spyder wheels and do something custom.

Here is a few options I was considering when I had my wheels done:
-Anthracite paint
-Solid Black
-Polished lip
-Contrast wheel barrels
-Brushed Wheel Face

I used a local wheel shop, Skip's Wheel Werks. He does a ton of Porsche's and other makes.

Sorry to dig up an old thread. But with Donavan's cool wheels, and other threads with aftermarket wheels, the fuch's, the Champion motorsports, etc, the ricer in me wants to mod.

It seems everyone like the Spyder wheels. I am leaning towards refinishing them. One option is to paint like exactly like Cayman R's - commonly know as hyper silver.

What does everyone think about this color?

This is called ghost chrome. A well know wheel shop in New Rochelle NY recommeded me this color. To me, it looks like hyper black. I am sure it is minor differences. Note - I am considering the color, not the wheel.

I think something a little darker than hyper silver will stand out better against your silver Spyder. I really like the ghost chrome, that may be dark enough to provide the ideal amount of contrast.

If you really want to changes things up you might consider finding matching Porsche lettering to tie it all in.

If anyone wants Black wheels, Plastidip them. The best part it is removable, and does not mess up the original finish. Alot of guys have been doing it on Audi's and it looks good. I have done a few parts on my Audi, and it hold up extremely well- (car washes etc) Then years later if you want to go back to the stock look, peel the paint off (Its like rubber and hold up well). Looks alot better than you think too.

I have been toying with the idea of Plastidiping my Spyder wheels. I then could just peel it off later if I wanted to go back to stock. No damage.

For example- (Its easier just to take the wheels off.)
