Default Stumbled onto a Spyder today...

Was doing something at the dealer today and swung in behind service to find this beauty:

Stunning in person - very dramatic roofline and rear end:

I saw one outside a dealership about 2 weeks ago. While I like the look of the car with the top down/off, the top really detracts from the car when it is up. It reminds me of a folding lawn chair.

I like the look, but I heard if it rains you get soaked and that is with the top up!

Not true at all -- I have driven in the rain, and not a drop came into the car -- completely dry!

I love how internet rumors get started.

The Spyder is completely sealed with both sections of the top in place.

How's it compare to the power softtop as far as draft and wind-noise and all?

The Spyder's two roof sections are thin fabric designed to keep the elements out and nothing more; no lining or layers of insulation. So wind, engine, tire, and traffic noise is about the same as with the top off.

No draft with the top on, and very little with the rear section off, even with windows down.

Had a chance to take one around the block a few weeks ago and install and remove the tops. The tops were not bad once you got the hang of it. Should be lots of fun on the track.

if you bought a spyder, pls throw the top away, step on it, put it in the trash can, burn it.
this is a spyder. why would the top every be up? if you are caught in a down pour, drive faster. if you are wet, then you are not driving it fast enough and probably bought the wrong car.

Pretty much! THAT is what the Spyder is all about. Spare Car, Toy Car, for sunny days only.....
