I discovered this weekend that I was wrong on the manual PDK upshifts. It does NOT bounce against red-line, but shifts. But, I still like the setup.

On my Tiptronic 997, it would bounce against the rev-limiter only when PSM was turned off. I have to assume there is a mode in which PDK does the same.

Got a ride in a pdk Boxster Spyder this weekend at the Road Atlanta DE. Porsche North America had two cars and two of the Performance driving school instructors (both veterans of RA) at the track both days. First day in lots of rain with the tops up, Sunday in sunshine with the tops off. Amazing cars in the hands of very experienced drivers. I can't imagine NOT getting the pdk. Left in sport plus mode and only manually shifted in traffic situations and it was quick!

What he said.....the Sypyder is 10X the car my 06 "S" is. The PDK was very impressive from the right seat. The cars ran hard all day Saturday and Sunday - at a serious pace and from what I saw that was without a tire or brake pad change. At noon yesterday they had already used up 3 tanks of gas! Told my wife the comparision is what the GT3 is compared to a Carrera.

It was fun to see that even "pro" drivers loop cars once in a while (turn 1 yesterday)

Doesn't it depend on the *intent* of the car?

For a "Saturday Cruiser", I'd recommend the manual hands-down....
For a "Track Toy", nothing will be better than PDK (no more heel/toe!)

I'd buy the Spyder as a weekend toy, so manual for me!

My $0.02,
-B

(Nice ride savyboy - car looks awesome!)

The white with red is really sharp looking! I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Best regards,

Good question and one I didn't ask. I do know that they spun both rear tires using the launch control on their standing start pit exits, so I'm assuming they were.

Yup, what a launch it gets out of turn 7! That's where my 987 really is a pig.

Spyders are standard with LSD.
