987 Spyder…..If you could order one today…
I thought it would be fun to see how you would spec the 987 Spyder today if you could do it over again. Rules are that you have to choose from the original options list so the exterior/interior color choice would have to be whatever Porsche offered back in 2011/12. No PTS since they really only offered it for 4 days.
Here’s what I would choose today…….
Here’s what I would choose today…….
- Basalt Black Exterior (Gemini Blue if going PTS)
- Cocoa Interior with Silver Belts and Door Pulls (Black Full Leather with Gemini Blue)
- Full Leather
- PCCB’s
- PSE
- MT
- Short Shift
- AC

3. tan leather
4. CF buckets
5. AC
6. PCM + Sound Package Plus
7. Short Shifter
8. PCCB
9. Lightweight Battery
10. Sport Exhaust

Oh man this is a fun thread. I love everything about my car’s spec (LWB, 6spd, PSE, PCCB, Sport Shifter, etc) except for two things that I would consider changing:
1. PTS if possible (Maritime Blue, Signal Green, Speed Yellow, Viola Purple Met., Continental Orange, or GTS Red),
or Crème White with Guards Red Spyder or Carrera Sport wheels, and Red LWBs,
or make another SpiderMan car (Aqua Blue Met. over Red LWBs).
2. Radio Delete

- PCCB
- Sport Shifter
- Lightweight Battery

This is a fun thread - thanks Afshin!
We’ve probably all spec’d a new Spyder RS on the configurator, but to have the opportunity to spec the original again would be incredible.
- ABM
- Full red leather interior
- PTS if really dreaming
- MT
- LWB
- PSE
- PCCB
- Short Shift
- AC delete
- Radio delete
- Lightweight battery
The funny thing is that a close spec of my dream lightweight car actually exists, but I’ve been told the owner will never sell. A close second for me is Eduardo’s old Spyder, who is the current owner? The PTS Riviera Blue car is also pretty amazing.

Why do y’all want radio delete, I can do that myself and then reinstall later down the line. I totally get AC delete because that would be a b!tch to remove. When Porsche classic radio is offered for these in a few years it will be any easy way to upgrade to semi-modern technology without having junk attached to your dash/center console (Waze, etc).

If I want to cruise with the top down and tunes going, I take my Z3- it's a better GT car anyway.

Hmmm
1. Black
2. Red Interior with black alcantara package (door panels, carpet...)
3. LWBS (standard)
4. MT / Short Shift
5. Radio delete
6. Turbo II wheels
7. PCCBs
8. AC
P.s. Oh wait! That's pretty close to what I have.

I bought mine for the look, turns out it one of best driving Porsche I’ve ever owned. My Spyder has 150k miles and drives like new I have not driven my 991 or 914/6 since I bought it a few months ago.
