Default New to me Spyder

I have been after this particular car for the last two years and the seller finally agreed reluctantly, to let her go. He has a new whip on the way so don’t lose any tears for him anytime soon. Fantastic seller btw.

Why this car, I just love the specs. Low option build with full leather interior, no plastic dash

A/C, manual, Basalt Black, full-leather interior, red belts, white dials, heated sofas.

She will be my daily

My son was kind enough to drive me up to NYC this morning and I made the 250 mile trip down to the beach, she had 21,400 miles on her when I picked her up.

Nice catch! Congratulations!

Nice, low mileage. With this latest sale adding to others it seems like the trend is black is the new white! Beautiful.

Any hint you can give us as to the price you paid. Not meaning to be nosey, but we're all friends here and curious as to where you sit in today's market. As you probably know, a similiar car just hit $79,500 on the tap of the gavel on BAT (BAT fee included), despite softening prices of 718 Spyders.

Again, congrats, you picked up a nice one!

Ps. Here's a link to the video I shot some years back of Rennlister Marine Blue demonstrating his unique "Afshin Fold" technique of top removal.

Thank you 🙏

Basalt black, this is a different color from black and not very many available in Basalt. This color Basalt has a completely different option number (Z4) and should never be combined with black. Sorry dude but the details matter.

Contrary to popular opinion prices are not softening. What you are seeing is the strong market has brought some less than perfect cars to market and these lesser cars are changing hands at lower prices. This is typical of a strong market bringing cars into the marketplace.

Good cars are still bringing all the money as witnessed by the recent BAT sale, $75,000 plus 5% in fees $3750 and $70 in documentation fees = $78,820 for the recent BAT sale. Not sure how you came up with $79,500, unless that is a different car. Sorry but the details are important.

Purchase price was inline with the current market including a 10% adjustment due to this being a private sale. The car has some minor cosmetic needs and tires, less than $5k should make it perfect. So this is inline with the current market for excellent cars.

Thanks for the video 👍

Pretty sure he just wanted to congratulate you on your purchase and welcome you to the club. We're all very familiar with basalt black and the Spyder market. Enjoy the car!

@Zeus993 I'd never actually seen that before so thanks!

Yes, you are correct. Basalt Black (7% of NA Spyders) is rarer than black (19% of NA Spyders). Good distinction. I stand corrected!

$79,500 was quoted in the "Spyder / Cayman R Auction Thread". Probably an approximation.

Again, nice catch.

You are welcome for the video
Note: Basalt Black, one owner, factory order, but you probably knew that!

Thanks man

The net is a funny place. Some guy posts an incorrect sale price for a widely followed auction in a thread with lots of eyeballs and all of a sudden it gets picked up and repeated. Next thing you know people incorrectly think that is the market. God forbid a car sells close to the actual sales price and next thing you know the market is falling. All because some dude could not do math 🤷‍♂️

One thing I can use some help with, one of the cosmetic items that I referred to is a missing owners manual and case.

What owners manual did this car come with? Asking the original owner of a Basalt black car

btw: I didn’t know that when I posted earlier, you have good taste 👍

Here’s what I have. I believe the special book only came with PDK cars

Excellent and thank you very much 👍

I have the book pictured lower right, even though my car is a manual 🤷‍♂️

In need of everything else.

Any and all leads are appreciated

The PDK mention was tongue in cheek. I believe that book only came with the early cars. It came with my broken Spyder, but had no manual. The other car has a manual but no book. The pic is a mix of what I have from the two cars.

For some reason, I feel obliged to leave things as I find them ie I won’t be playing around with the docs to give one car a perfect set. Same with the Kapstan inserts in the roof bar or the rubber inserts in the front bar for the roof.

If you really want to get obsessive/compulsive about the documentation , here is what came with my ABM Spyder:
