Default Wanted: 987.2 Boxster Spyder

So I've been on the hunt for a 987 Spyder for some time now through the typical used car classifieds websites, auction sites (carsandbids, bringatrailer), and local dealers. I thought it's probably a good idea to start joining the Porsche web forums to increase my odds of success

Must haves:
  • 6-speed manual
  • Black or Silver exterior color
  • carbon bucket seats
  • air conditioning
  • Sport Chrono Plus (option 639?)
  • Limited Slip differential (is this an option or standard?)
  • Full leather interior package
  • sport design steering wheel (unless I can easily add this if not equipped)
  • Unmodified, unless very tasteful/desirable minor mods; e.g. GT3 brake duct spoilers. Must have the original spyder-specific wheels, stock suspension, etc.
Wants but not deal breakers:
  • Sport exhaust (PSE?)
  • Sport (short?) shifter
  • xenon lights
  • radio
  • Sound package plus
  • universal audio interface, bluetooth interface
  • leather sun visors
  • autodim mirrors
  • rain sense wipers
  • heated seats (was this possible with carbon buckets?)
  • extended range fuel tank (did the US get this option?)
Don't cares:
  • Interior color
  • steel or carbon brakes
  • painted or unpainted rollover hoops
Budget:
  • Up to 90k, but specific price really will depend on the particular example I'm looking at
Apologies if I have the option / package names or numbers incorrect, I'm still learning all the details of the 987.2.

Please let me know if anyone has a car (or knows of a car) that fits this criteria and might be for sale. Or any links to cars currently for sale would be much appreciated!

EDIT: would consider a blue exterior color if the interior is a tan color

At a budget of $90k American money I wouldn't be surprised if someone here reaches out to you.

I don't think you will find many with option 639 as its not really a track car but who knows.

Good luck with your search.

I’d say sport chrono would be an option that doesn’t need to be on the primary list, it doesn’t offer much benefit on a manual. Limited slip is standard on Spyders. Heated seats were not an option on the Carbon Bucket Seats. They can be added but would require you to add a switch and do some wiring, honestly they’re not necessary as the seats cocoon you and your body heat is retained, not great on really hot day.

Thanks for the info! Good to know LSD is standard. Yeah sounds like adding heated seats would be quite the pain.

Is "sport chrono plus" a different thing than "sport chrono" on these cars?

I don’t recall there being sport chrono and a plus version, just “Sport Chrono”. The only difference it makes on a manual is the throttle response. On a PDK it would impact shift pattern and speed. If the Spyder had PASM (which it didn’t) then Sport Chrono would also change the shock settings. So again not much difference on a manual car.

Same, the thought didn’t even cross my mind. Find another car that cost less than $100k and offers as much drivers involvement and the perfect ratio of power, weight, comfort, handling and acceleration for the road. Reliable to boot. Doesn’t exist
