Just catless headers on my factory PSE and the volume with the valves closed is pretty much the volume the exhaust used to be with the valves open (with factory headers)

I am one that went with the Soul non-cat header and kept the PSE. I agree with the previous comments. The sound is amazing when open. When valve is closed, very quite. So you get the best of both worlds. It is my understanding you do not get HP gains with changing out the PSE using catless headers.

Kcobra - any gas smell with the cat-delete? Not too too loud with the PSE off?

No gas smell. Interestingly with the PSE off, it is actually quite. On, its all you need. I pondered the idea of purchasing exhaust but with no real HP advantage, along with great sound from the PSE, it didnt make sense.

One more comment. Quite frankly PSE on in a stock set up is quite to me. So with headers, it is a sound game changer and still have the ability to make it quiet.

Kcobra - you mentioned Longtube Street headers in a different post, which have 200 cel cats.

Sorry to bug you but can you please clarify.

A) Longtube Street Headers (200 cel cats) or

B) Competition Race Headers (cat delete)

No problem. I intended to mean that the Non-cat headers referenced above the same as a cat delete / competition headers.

KCobra, Zach L, and any others who have gone the catless route, did you get a CEL? Both Soul and Fabspeed state its a clear possibility. Did you do an ECU tune to desensitize the O2 sensor, or add the O2 sensor spacers? I am leaning to catless but if a CEL is probable and a $995 tune necessary then maybe one of the 200 cell cat options is a better choice.

I'm leaning towards the 200 Cel Longpipe headers.

Yes, I got a CEL with catless headers, and it's not a guarantee you'll avoid the CEL even if you go with 200-cell cats... the 987.2 cars use a Siemans ECU that's much more sensitive than the Bosch ECU used on 987.1 cars. The sensor spacers will work for most on 987.1 but they almost never work on 987.2 cars using catless headers. You'll want to get a tune.

If cost is a consideration, it's about the same price to get catless + tune as it is to get 200-cell catted headers. Another thought... I wouldn't buy used catted headers (cats have a lifespan and who knows how much remaining life they really have, especially if the car was tracked with them) but I have no issues buying used catless race headers. You can pick up some used catless Fabspeed or Soul race headers for about $1,000 + $900 for a tune.

Cats are a wear item, especially if a car is tracked. There are lifetime warranties that work for us that go the DIY route, but if you pay someone to do your wrenching, there's still a cost there.
