Default 12v power outlets, radar detectors, and dash cams

Planning to drive my new to me Spyder from Texas to California and wondering if there is power outlet underneath the glovebox like my Cayenne and Panamera had? Also, any recommendations on radar detector and dash cams? Any advice much appreciated!

My 2011 Boxster has a 12v cigarette lighter in the center console where I plug in a a splitter that allows connection of the radar device and a phone.
Not sure if the Spyder has such luxuries.

The Spyder has a 12 v cigarette lighter receptacle on the side of the console, under the dash. I run a splitter off mine.

Thanks for confirming everyone! I was also able to find a picture with the right angle to see the outlet under the dash.

Interesting that the car comes with 3 12v outlets. Does the manual specifically say what the "empty" 12v outlet in the center console is for in the owner's manual? Can you plug in a battery maintainer into the "empty" outlet in the center console?

Nope, only two 12v outlets. If you’re looking at the area circled in red below, that’s not an electrical outlet. It’s a pen holder.
Yes, seriously.

That's funny and the first I've ever heard of where a car manufacturer engineered a pen holder into the car. Thanks for clarifying.

That is so 1980s
I mean everybody needs a pen when they are driving? Maybe it is an eyeliner holder. I see a lot more driving people applying eye makup while driving than writing notes and letters

Just a note on the 12VDC outlet on Ctr console vs the 12VDC outlet in passenger footwell....the Ctr console is a 15 amp protected circuit vs the footwell 7.5 amp circuit. If you ever use the portable air compressor , use the Ctr console vs footwell due to current draw.. Regardless always have spare fuses in car, 7.5, 10,15, and 25 amp fuses. You will eventually need them!

Any danger in using the center console outlet for my C-Tek battery maintainer?

Anyone else already doing this?

The hole forward of the ashtray is for extinguishing a cigarette.
