Default 987.2 Spyder Rear Deck Hooks

Anyone ever change the color on the red rear deck hooks? They look like they could be very hard to get to. I was thinking of changing them from red to another color like silver or even black. I have swapped out the red seat belts and door pulls in my car for silver, and the rear deck hooks are the only remaining red item. Maybe there's a paintable product similar to Plasti-Dip that would be non permanent?

what color are your calipers? you could look into wrapping the hooks, too, but not sure if the wrap would hold up when in contact with the roof components

Great idea, and I thought about that as well. Calipers are Speed Yellow, stock PCCB. I did the 12 o'clock steering wheel with yellow 3M tape. I'm not sure how to get to the hooks to remove them. I've read of some people having the hooks come loose, or the molding around them, so maybe it isn't worth doing, if it's going to present issues down the road.

Woot changed his color on his first Spyder.
I haven’t looked recently, but pretty sure there are nuts retaining the “dish” on the deck lid that will allow that assembly to drop out from below. Try that and see what hardware is then exposed for actual hook removal.

Thanks! I will have a look again when I get it back from the dealer. I'm assuming he painted his hooks? I'm so late to the game with the Spyder, I assume there are thousands of posts I haven't read, but I'm trying to catch up!

I can’t go look at mine to confirm, so I grabbed a photo. Looks like there are three fasteners for the hook on the underside of the deck. The plastic surround looks like a snap in place from above.

It’s definitely possible.
Here’s a picture of some (from Woot?) that we’re painted from red (stock) to black.

Hi Alemaniac. Yes above pic (and post # 25 on my thread https://rennlist.com/forums/987-981-...in-pics-2.html ) shows the mods I had performed on my GR Spyder now owned by Mikey-O. I saved the original red hooks and silver washer nozzles (had xenons) and had them painted black. In addition I also had added OEM black Spyder wheels. The hooks and nozzles were easy to uninstall and reinstall after I had them painted at the local shop. My detail shop had not charged me anything for the labor and at the time I was told by the shop owner that it was a very easy swap. I also wanted to paint the side mirror housing in black but then the labor to uninstall that part was crazy so I did never install the black painted mirror housings.

Thanks Amar. Did you order a second set of hooks, and then have a bodyshop paint them? Happen to know the part number? I like the idea of keeping the original parts. I kept the original red seatbelts and door pulls (both now silver).

Appreciate the help.
