The black one with red interior you were inquiring about has some mystery light reflections on the front end that should be inspected closely. I suspect a bumper repaint or a mismatched part from another car since the light moves funny in more than 2 shots from different angles. There's also what appears to be a dent right behind the light though that mark doesn't show up in other angles, so it may just be a reflection. See pic

Regardless, those photos combined with the revelation of the wheels and spoiler lip killed that sale plain and simple.
Man at that price I would have bought it and given it to the wife since it had PDK. I missed it.

Didn't sell at that price -- didn't hit reserve.

Came really close to buying one today but the car was not in the best share which raised some red flags. I’m looking for a clean example so I posted a WTB in marketplace in case anyone is considering selling theirs. The more I look into this car the more excited I get!

Unfortunately car was not truly excellent and now I understand why it has been sitting 😩. I will have to be patient!

EBruce, sorry the BB w/ red interior didn't work out. Have your game plan thought out, funds lined up and get ready for the kill when the right one opens up. I too specifically was looking for a non-tracked CW Spyder w/ a special color leather interior, clean DME, no repaint, no bumper holes (preferably) and good service history. I swooped on mine and wired the funds within 36 hrs of it being listed on the dealer's website. No one even knew that this existed as I am sure if they had known .. it would've been taken. One of Marine blue and SilverSurfer's pic show the richness of BB. No other metallic Spyder color has such depth in my humble opinion. If that car is still available, I'll take some HQ pics for you in 3 weeks and we can see if that car is still worth your consideration.

As w00TPORSCHE noted, be ready to pounce when the right one comes along. Don’t expect it to pop up on BAT or other venues either, a large majority of the really nice ones get sold through word of mouth or through smaller dealers that stay in close contact with current owners.

We had a decent size group of Spyders today, they are amazing machines!

Afshin-
I thought that I was dead set on Carrera white originally, but when the basalt black with the red interior popped up, I realized I could go either direction. Had that example not have been painted (only bumper) and numerous chips all over, I would be joining you guys as owners. Since I declined his best and final it sold that day and now the impatient side of me me wishes I bought it.

I am realizing that Carrera white with the red interior, Carrera white with the black interior, and basalt black with the Carrera Red interior and the three colors ideal for me. A manual and the carbon fiber seats are must haves with the full leather to follow.

Please let me know if you guys hear anything through the small dealers. I am following all of the major sites daily.

While the 981 catches your eyes faster and looks more modern, your 987 stands out to me as timeless and I believe has/will age much better years down the road. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Agreed. I think the 987 spyder is the "last of" so many angles that it will be the long term keeper. The emission and crash laws aren't going backwards, so that alone will cement it as special. Add tech into the mix, and analog cars always age better. I have a car with 2003 navigation and it's worthless. Yes it "works" but you can't upgrade it and you can't remove it because the A/C is integrated. At least with a 987.2, you can toss the radio and it's in keeping with Porsche's intent for the car.

Visually it really is a matter of taste and while I also prefer the styling of the 987 I know many will disagree with that opinion.

But I do tend to agree that having less technology will certainly age better. The simple and focused interior of the 987 really has aged well IMHO. Ten years from now the only part of the cockpit that will feel old is the radio display but it’s such a small part of the overall interior that it won’t take away from the car. The fact that it has very few moving parts will also make it much easier to maintain going forward.

As far as colors, honestly the Spyder is one of the few cars that looks good in every color, just focus on condition and the options you want. That applies to the 987 and 981.

I’ve only got 1 Spyder locally, it had a (roughly) $120k sticker and the dealer is asking $116k. There is a yellow one for sale here in the $80k range that is also only $4k under sticker. I went and looked at the $116k car in person and it was immaculate, the one listed here is likely in similar condition. So my question, are these vehicles listed a little high or are the ‘16 Spyders really holding their value this much? We’re talking only 3% depreciation over 3-4 years.

MSDUNKEL, the OP is looking to buy a 987.2 spyder and not a 981 spyder. Two very different price points. Two cars that are on different directions of the depreciation curve. 718 would impact 981 spyder value (thats my guess although right from day 1 I have never followed anything about the 981/718) but should not affect 987.2's value or desirability.

Oops! Sorry for my ignorance, I didn’t realize there was a Spyder before ‘16! . I couldn’t afford one until recently so I never kept up with the brand.
