Default COTA in March

Anyone here running the PCA race at COTA in early March? Im considering going out from CA for this event. Cant tell by the registration page though if its a mixed class race for SPB or if its a dedicated race? Anyone with more details on this event? I've driven COTA before but not in the SPB car. Is it silly to come mix it up with you Texans? I hear you are fast...

I'll be there. I've not driven my SPB there yet. Looking forward to it. I've heard the SPB group is big.

The Texas SPB boys take no prisoners and know all the short cuts around the track.

Vali Predescu said he is bringing a group of SPBs and drivers from the LA area, so you will have some CA company if you go.

I looked at the last two years race results there and it looks like they only ran two groups. Last year SPB was combined with SP1, D, E, F, H, and I in the red group. In 2015 it contained SP996 and others (a huge group!). Don't know why they only run two groups. So based on recent history it looks mixed.

Look forward to having some west coast guys coming to this incredible track. The track and venue is absolutely superb... as you can imagine from an F1 track.

We have great numbers signed up for the event for SPB and I know of another 4-6 that haven't signed up yet but plan on coming so the field will get even bigger.

If we do a split start (with our numbers we should) or a combined start with other classes it really isn't an issue at this track. The corners are so wide that passing is very easy. We've battle 3-wide through some corners and 2-wide through many corners with plenty of room. It's by far the safest track I've driven but very daring in spots.

The runoffs are safe and the walls save you money because they take the impact rather than your car.

Let me know if you have any questions and hope to see you there. I can throw up some race videos if you want to see those as well.

Last I knew you get a bill for wall damage. Please explain how that now saves $$$$.

We've seen it several times where the wall damage bill was $1-3k and saved the car from getting into the frame. Some of the times the car was fixable at the track and back the next day. Hit a wall at an unforgiveable track and you're done. I did that both at Road Atlanta and Mid-Ohio and got into the frame both times. If I would have done both those types of accidents at COTA my bill would have been 1/2 or less.

There's a reason you're not charged at other tracks - the wall you hit got a few scratches on it and all the damage was done to your car.

Surely PCA has some kind of insurance to cover that. I've read NASA does.

Nope. I personally have gotten a bill from VIR after the club race and know several people who also got bill's from WGI after incidents there during the club race.
