I run a cooler and change the oil every weekend. Cooler, when done right, adds a level of circulation and spray onto the gear set which in itself helps a lot. Finding ways to remove heat from the gearbox will help its life tremendously.

I have only done one trans (probably will do another one now that I typed that) last year at VIR when it was 95. Car ran great and set a new lap record. Next morning in the heat, 3rd gear synchro melted on lap 5 while out in front. No indication prior, it had just had enough.

The data now points to a 3.2 being the deciding factor on G86 transmission failures...

I just thought California Motorsports might have an opinion about the causes of failure, and so how to prevent them.

Yeah it was 90, synchro has been slowly going last three weekends eventually wouldn't go in, was also running just fine prior, slowing my shifts was costing me time though

Matthew I sent you a PM, call VALI. He has someone that does great work. With that said I always carry a transmission. I have seen a driver go thru 3 transmissions at the POC buttonwillow race last year.
