Alternator battery question
FIgured id post this up and see if any of you tech gurus might be able to help.
so i have a 1999 spec boxster. standard car.
i have a Koolbox 7 from a previous cup car that i was thinking of putting in the car.
yet i have a Braille 11.5lb battery.
beyond m own situation ive always wanted to understand more about how you figure out if you have enough battery, enough alternator...id presume once the car gets going, its all the alternator?
just curious how you do these calculations.
1. alternator - AL0815X i believe. stats are here: Amperage Rating: 150 12V
2. Koolbox 7 Current: 20 AMP on high cooling, 12.5 AMP on low cooling
3, BB-B14115 braille 11.5lb battery - 904 cranking amps. cold cranking amps 350.

As you already mentioned, there is plenty of current available from the alternator when the car is running. When the car is not running, you can get an idea of battery life by looking at the amp hour rating of the battery. The Braille is rated at 15 amp hour (AH). A simplified way of looking at it is that a 15 amp load will discharge the battery in 1 hour. I suggest you only run the Koolbox for a brief time if the engine is not running.
