Default Passenger airbag delete...cover mounting

I'm removing my passenger airbag, but I'm wondering how you guys have the cover mounted to the dash as the tabs that hold it seem to be attached to the airbag. Just fab up some tabs?

thanks

I think mine's held on by some self-tappers

I forgot what it looks like but I zip-tied around a metal bracket of some sort on the back of the cover to something in the inner dash area. You can do this by getting on your back and reaching up under the dash.

*I just went to go take a photo and realized that you have to wrestle out a plastic HVAC tube that's in the way

I consider myself quite the ziptie engineer, so I will likely pursue this option.

Thanks guys

Velcro strips, hidden where the dash & cover make contact, also works.

+1 Velcro works very nicely. Plus, it makes a nice place to store your log book.

Hey guys, one final follow up. Can you remove the SRS module. Some cars seem not to have them, but they could have just relocated them? I've heard I may need to jumper two wires to send power to the DME, but not sure if thats the case.

thanks!

If you mean the main module on top of the tunnel in front of the stick shift, yes. I researched this as well a few years ago and removing it from my '98 had no ill effects and I didn't have to jump any connections, not sure if that's the case in later years or not.

Ditto BFT3.2 on my 99. No jumpers needed. Self Tappers for me.

to close the loop, car works fine without the airbag module and zip ties got the job done. cover didn't move at all, even over the bus stop curbs at the glen. onto the next project.
