Will a 2.7 manual transmission fit a 2.5?

Blew up 3rd gear on my 1998 5 Speed, wondering if another Boxster transmission will mate up to the 2.5L

My gearing was checked at the NOLA race early this year, all was fine. When Walt stuck his head up to the window and said I was good to go, I replied "Thanks for not asking me to shift into 6th". He had a good laugh.

Ended up finding another 2.5 5 speed, swapping it out this week.
