Best (reasonably priced new/used) short shifter for Spec Boxster
Gentlemen,
May I solicit advice, what is best short-er shift / more precise shifter for spec Boxster?
Something new or used, not terribly expensive (Like CAE as example).
Thank you

Its what we run in all our cars. Best shifter you can buy. Short and precise. Just like an RS. Put some Numeric cables with it and you have almost RS level shifting

If shift feel is the goal, you can always get metal bushings. I installed these in the factory shifter: https://phenixengineering.com/shop/p...t-bushing-kit/

Better then B&M?
So 997 GT3 shifter assy for example?
I know some company was offering just the shifter components to update our shifters, or also offered complete units as a swap (core perhaps is sent to them).
Was like $250 or so, seems like nice way to also upgrade.
I am not inclined to buy new cables also, if originals work well.

Shift cables led are not needed unless looking for another step up in shift performance. Remember, every split second out of the gas is a loss of momentum.

Do you chew up transmissions faster with a short shifter? I used the stock 100k miles shifter and cables last year, have a 987 shifter that I'm thinking we will try this year.

The B&M shifter increase shift effort which increase the chance of missed shifts or grinding gears and therefore induces a higher chance of killing a trans. The OEM short shifter's do not increase shift effort so have no impact here.

The cables are twice the thickness with stiffer ends on either end. The end result is less slop and more precision in shifting. They are the same makeup as the 996 Cup Car cables which have a similar improvement metric for GT3 car's
