16v Supercharger Kit < $3k at 928 Motorsports
In response to requests from "Do It Yourselfer's" we introduce:
Application : ALL 16 Valve Porsche 928
Price: $2,695.00
Designed for the 928 Owner that wants to do more and buy less. We started with our Complete Stage 1 kit (which sells for $4495.00) and removed the Powerdyne Supercharger, the hoses and hose clamps, the wires, and the gauges. You save $1800!
Ideal for International The Tuner's Kit will ship for less and have lower import tarrifs than any other we sell. Add a local Powerdyne BD-11, some wires and hoses, and you're all set!
Easy Installation! Our kits install from the top without any engine disassembly. You do not even have to remove the radiator if you do not want to. Typical installation time: 5 hours
Proven Performance! The 928 Motorsports Tuner's Kit will provide 30 to 40% more HP and torque when fitted with a Powerdyne BD-11 or BD-11a blower.
For example:
On a 1978 /82 4.5 L 219 HP motor, you should get 300 HP
On a 1983/84 4.7L 300HP motor, you should get 405 HP
On a 1985/86 4.7L 310HP motor, you should get 420 HP
Upgradeable: Say you want to start this year with this kit because of its low entry price and easy installation. Next year, you can easilly upgrade to our Stage 2 kit and pull another 50+ HP by adding the intercooler and a bit of boost.
Because we use a centrifugal blower, our charged air is cooler than others and the intercooler is OPTIONAL.
Complete Mounting Kit: We provide you with all upper and lower supercharger mounting brackets, the pulleys, the aluminum intake tubing, the blow-off valve assembly, the belts, all the nuts n' bolts, the intake assembly, the CIS K-Jet or L-Jet adapter, the replacement electric radiator fans and mounting brackets, and complete instructions. Email us if you would like a complete parts list sent to you.
You Will Need to Provide: A new or used Powerdyne BD-11 Supercharger, the air filter, the hoses and hose clamps, the gauges (optional) and a few wires.

If there's enough interest I could dust off the Murf928 bins and put together a couple of kits for the L-Jet cars. CIS is not an option.

It was never fully developed. The few out there that work well were finished by the car owners. Even their 32V kits were never properly tuned.

Your 4.5 is likely a CIS car, as most of the Ljet cars were 4.7. Only Carl ever had a solution for CIS and he is long gone. Per Carl, the trick with CIS is to introduce boost without blowing open the air meter. He had a special conical plate that attached in place of the air cleaner that was supposed to do this. It was his secret sauce and he asked me not to share it when he sold one to me, but I kinda think that is moot at this point.

thanks! Do you have a supercharger in yours? I’m just wondering if I can just piece together one myself? Like which supercharger I should pick and get piping custom done. They’re people who are using Eaton M112 superchargers.

I think you can use anything you can mount. Carl initially used a Paxton I think, while others used a Vortec. I think I have one of Carl's L Jet manuals. Someone used a Rotax. There are all for the front of engine mount configuration. There have also been rear mounted turbos, dual turbosand top mounted superchargers.

Good info on them here:
https://www.jonbondperformance.com/p...s-precautions/
The kits had zero ignition tuning and running a supercharger on an L-Jet or CIS 928 (85/86 too) without an intercooler is downright irresponsible. Without knock sensors, insuring the intake charge is as cold as possible is the only safeguard you'll have against detonation. The 16V cars don't have the strongest pistons to begin with.......
On top of all that, the intercooler he did offer was grossly inadequate.
