Default Chevy 6.2 Panamera swap.

Hello all, I’ve seen several Porsche enthusiasts ask about my car and a few people on here telling me I need to make a post about it. I have a 2010 Porsche Panamera that I have swapped the 6.2 and 10 speed from a 2019 Camaro into. The motor is a direct injected 6.2 LT1 with Texas speed cam and heads, c8 vette intake manifold, runs flex fuel and makes a little over 600 NA horsepower (505 to the wheels) the 10 speed is the magic of the car the close ratios of the transmission put the motor right in its power band regardless what speed it’s going, the sound is intoxicating though a fully custom corsa exhaust. And I have run 130 mph in the 1/4 mile. For those of you that are getting upset, the car had a blown PDK and a jumped timing chain so I didn’t ruin a good car! My goal with these kinds of swaps is a car that looks and drives just like it could have from the factory with that powertrain. So far I’ve driven the car about 10,000 miles. I maintained the factory cooling system which is excellent, it is difficult to get the car over 180 degrees coolant and oil temp even after beating on it for a long time on hot days. Factory A/C compressor bolted onto the Camaro bracket and with 2 custom A/C hoses works perfectly. I maintained the factory drive shaft by building a custom billet adapter and at the back of the driveshaft to match the gearing of my transmission better I swapped a rear differential from a 2001 Bentley Arnage (2.92 ratio) this diff was basically a bolt in replacement for the stock Panamera diff, I only needed to steal the pinion flange from the Panamera diff and do some light machining to get it recessed slightly more. All front suspension and subframe is stock, I made custom motor mounts that bolt to the factory motor mount provisions on the frame. As for interior I installed the Camaro shifter in place of Panamera shifter, this way I could use tap shift functions (working on making factory paddle shifters work as well) all the stock gauges function with the exception of the tach, I have done lots of testing to make it functional and determined I need to emulate the Porsche cam crank signals or find a way to manipulate the can. If anyone has a scope waveform for the cam and crank sensor i need this bad, or if anyone has knowledge of manipulating a can signal i would also be very interested!! The stock Porsche ecu is in the car still wired to make it as happy as can be, car starts with the stock Porsche key. The car is an absolute blast to drive. A real head turner and does everything extremely well! If you are interested to see the car in action it was featured in an episode of legit street cars when Alex came to the shop I work for. The car is featured at the 46 minute mark. https://youtu.be/P2hTIpWgYdU?si=qWHAtFu8s18avUph

Sorry to all you Porsche die hards hopefully this doesn’t upset you all too much because this truly is one unique ride. Personally I’ve not seen any other swapped Panameras but please let me know if I wasn’t the first! Hope yall enjoyed the read!

Nothing to apologize for. Like Porsche himself, you couldn't find the car of your dreams, so you built it yourself!

Nice job. This is a rare swap you do not hear about. I bet there were quite a few custom parts needed. How difficult was the instrument cluster and fuse box wiring those appear quite complicated? I have a 944 turbo with an ls3 .. 2 fuse boxes and battery feeds so where did it all fit ?

cluster wiring wasn’t difficult. I did cover the factory check engine light and add my own LED under the icon in the cluster that the gm ecu can illuminate if needed, coolant temp and oil temp/ pressure I retained factory sensors and added to my motor so they function normally, hope to make the tach work soon, abs runs speedo which is sweet no work there. I didn’t actually modify any factory fuse boxes, except for the reverse lights signal I did have to trigger myself pulling those wires out of the rear bcm. I added my own powertrain relay fuse box under hood out of sight.

Do you miss the fast/firm shifting PDK? BTW I’m envious.

The PDK was blown in this car. However the tuned gm 10 speed is superior in every way. Lightning fast shifts and super crisp. I’ve let several Porsche guys drive the car and they were like the PDK sucks compared 😂

Cool project. Love the use of the 10-speed.

Let’s see the shifter/console and hear some revs!

Freaking awesome and the 6.2 looks so mean in there. I love this idea becasue I really like the Panamera body style. I would like to see a full write up on cost, work required, and level of difficulty...with images and such. THat is a super interesting swap and I think it would be a freaking great build where you could turn a Panamera into a hot rod and drop it a little get some killer wheels and have an unreal unique machine with a reliable drive chain. Super COOL swap!

This is so true. PDK shines when driving hard, but is pretty lackluster in everyday driving. I think the PDK was great when automatics sucked for so long, but not anymore. I miss the 8 speed from my CTS-V. The 10 speed is even better. Killer build!

What an incredible build - thank you for sharing!

Would love to learn more especially about how you got the Porsche ECU to work and the custom mounts for the engine, transmission and diff. Any old "in progress" pics you can share with us?

Dude, no one is trippin' on this build. No need to apologize or defend yourself. Great work!

I love to see modded Panameras. They get the least amount of love in the Porsche lineup.

Did I see you and this car briefly on Legit Street Cars' YT channel?
