Hello all

I have decided to wrap my Agate Grey 991 over the winter. Still trying to narrow down the perfect shade of green and awaiting samples from suppliers.

Would love to see example of wrapped cars, please specify what brand of Vinyl wrap you have and how it is holding up to real world use.

Thank you in advance.

I love my car's color. Got a compliment at a red light yesterday.

You should look at colored ppf instead of vinyl, the tech is really coming along.

The cyberdumps are always getting wrapped in the new patterned/color ppf when I go to my detailer.

I think I've seen more wrapped than not.

Expel Stealth Satin: Holding up extremely well during a lot of spirited driving on NY roads/highways
Installer: Detail Doctor out of Mahopac, NY (great owner and crew, very professional and accommodating with timeline

I had my 981 done three years ago with Autoflex. Still looks as good as the day it was sprayed aside from a nick I got on the hood from a can kicked up on the highway. I used a standard off the shelf pigment, RAL 5014, but they can custom mix any color you specify.

This is interesting, never heard of autoflex before. Is the price comparable to wraps/PPF?

That largely depends if the product lasts as long as promised. I've heard 8-10 years thrown around. If true this would make it much cheaper than a wrap which needs to be replaced every couple years. This is rough pricing from my installer:
  • Starts at $4,000 for a standard satin or gloss install on a standard coupe/sedan (one that requires 12-15 hours of tape and prep work).
  • Can be flow-coated/sanded & buffed. Flow-coat/sand & buff pricing starts at an additional $2,000 on top of standard install price for coupes/sedans.

Co-signed - there's three in my neighborhood in Tigard alone. People with bad taste just advertising in their driveways

If you were going for wrap, I would highly recommend INOZETEK and their Dynamic PPF's. It is two product in one, new color and ppf protection at the same time.

Also the ppf function brings paint like finish and look. It is almost indistinguishable from actual paint. At the moment Dynamic PPF catalog is limited but they do have the metallic green you are looking for.

I saw it live and it is amazing. highly recommended.

The wife’s Type R - KPMF Gloss Momentum Pink

Will see how it holds up over winter. Was putting something up in the garage and a plastic cover part fell on the hood and put a scratch through the vinyl. Seems pretty fragile.

The 911 will probably get wrapped another shade of red in a few years. That paint is fading and sometimes looks orange.
