Default Headers/ exhaust manifolds

Can anyone tell me if the headers from a Turbo will fit a GTS?
or are the turbo and head footprints different?

Soul’s product page seems to indicate that they should fit. But, I’d call them to confirm if I were you.

From a power perspective, M Engineering says it’s a waste of time and money to switch to aftermarket units.

But from a sound perspective?

interesting…. Some places have dyno plots to back up the claims.would Be great if @Flat6Motorsports could do a sump up as they have access ti loads of offerings.

its strange that there are offerings available if they do nothing at all!!?

From what I understand going equal length adds more mid range and response.
In all honesty that’s where the extra gain will be most beneficial.

Why? There have always been tons of snake oil products and/or ineffective modifications out there for enthusiasts to consume and companies to make money. Some things work, but other things do not.

oh I agree, what I meant was it’s been proven on many other platforms that header changes make a difference. So why would the flat six that we have be any different?

Oh, gotcha! Maybe the OEM 992 headers are already a pretty efficient design (…think, OEM 1995-2001 Integra Type R header with the heat shield; well made and pretty damn efficient).

To be honest I'd pay good money for headers that make the sound have a much higher pitch and closer to NA characteristic even if it meant less power. Most aftermarket solutions optimize for power tho, and OEM seems to have them all beat in that regard. Link pipes + tune is prolly the easiest power gain with stock headers.

I’m really getting tempted by EQ incolnelbheaders atm but I can’t find any sound clips of before and after results….. many donut all in conjunction with other things so you don’t really get a full picture !!

I installed an Akrapovic exhaust, maintaining the factory cat pipes, and the car feels more responsive, pulls a little harder, and has a noticeably smoother throttle feel. Their website says it’s good for around 15hp, while dropping close to 19lbs in weight from the rear most part of the car. The sound is louder, and the tone feels like it’s a little more “rpm following” compared to stock. Haven’t tried a pull to redline, but part throttle accelerations to 5000rpm seems good.

So, an exhaust seems like a good place to start to pick up some sound and change the tone of the exhaust.

Anyone know if headers make it easier (or harder) to get to coilpacks and spark plugs on these cars?

We have done some extensive testing on exhaust systems on the 992 platform. This has been covered a number of times already. We have yet to have seen an aftermarket headers solution on the 992 platform add any power, in fact, you will lose power, and not just a small amount. The aftermarket headers raise the EMAP (we installed aftermarket sensors to measure exhaust manifold pressure) and cause the turbo efficiency to decline. This results in poor response and power loss. The factory headers have the lowest EMAP and make the most power.

In terms of the sound/tone they generate that is all personal preference and subjective. With the amount of power loss you would get with adding headers it would not be worth it.

thanks for your input 👍

I would love to see your results on the exist header testing. If you could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated 🙏

Can I ask if you feel this was down to manifold design itself?… and when was this testing done may I ask?
From what I can tell only fairly recently true “equal length headers “ have been available for this platform … the likes of gasped and others are not equal length and just seem to be tubular. Could that have had an effect on your results?

The reason I ask is because the standard log manifold is basically a collector and it’s been proven time and again on various platforms, racing platforms included , that true equal length manifolds with their ability to effect gas flow scavenging etc improves mid range power and throttle response.

Which product are you referring to? I'm not aware of an equal length offering for the 992, but would love to know if there is one.
