Backup Cam 2023 992? Is it possible it’s this bad ?
Multiple car household (audi, Volvo, Toyota, etc)
23 992 GTS Cam is abysmal quality - have played with settings. I am old and blind so have mercy - I need a good camera 📷.
Is there a setting trick or is it just a thing I should have my dlr look at next service Interval?

Yes, it is shockingly awful. I can never understand how these manufacturers end up with such bad technology at the launch of a model when there are so many manufacturers with better technology/implementation at that time. It’s software, it is really that hard/expensive to copy it after taking a look at a few examples??!?!?
That said, the driving experience is on a deifferent level so I will deal with the shortcomings which are mostly tolerable.

Maybe ignorance is bliss, because I think it's quite clear and undistorted in mine. I have the Premium Package which includes surround view so maybe that's different/better than the standard camera.

I’ll go with ignorance and/or tolerance. I have surround view as well and the backup camera functions fine but is terrible compared to that made by other manufacturers. Many of the other backup cameras of the 992 vintage just look better/clearer/more realistic. I find the 992’s backup camera video has what I would call a fisheye look to it.

It’s all relative. My 992 has the best backup camera of my 8 cars. Then again only one other has a backup camera at all and it’s an older Porsche (991.2 GT3T) and the vast majority of my cars have no backup camera or parking sensors. The good news is all my cars have 3 mirrors and I can still turn my neck. The only time I really care about a camera is when backing up onto my lift but even then it’s not a huge deal.

I can definitely see that argument but I can also see that Porsche is merely complying with a government requirement without much engineering enthusiasm behind it. Personally, I prefer less tech so I don’t care much about the backup cameras. It’s sort of like Porsche (and other German manufacturers) finally caving into American consumer preferences and reluctantly adding convoluted cup holders a couple decades ago. Maybe I’m a Luddite but I have never used a cup holder and would gladly rip them out of the handful of cars I have that have them.
